Now that the Sunshine has set, two old friends come to an understanding.
McCain topper Rick Davis quietly negotiated the agreement.
HALPERINS TAKE: 10 things Giuliani could have done differently.
Giuliani, in Florida concession speech, talked about his effort in the past tense, but said nothing explicit about dropping out or The Deal.

its very unlikely that we will see a McCain/Giuliani ticket
Whomever McCain chooses to run with him, they will be set up for 2012 because I can’t see McCain going for two tours at his age.
>>For conservatives, this election will be a disaster.
The Republican establishment learned nothing about the 2006 election disaster.<<
While those are both true, they are two different issues.
I am not convinced the Republican establishment in Washington is mostly conservative.
But this time it is not just the establishment to blame — but the uninformed Republican primary voters who don’t or won’t study the candidates or issues.
“I think Fred will be silent, or endorse Romney. He wont endorse McCain, no matter how good of friends they are. Fred and McCain are 180 degrees opposite each other in political ideology.”
Actually, I think Fred won’t endorse anyone until the GOP picks its nominee and then Fred will announce he will support the party’s pick.
Presumably they’re swayed by dishonest cold calls to unlisted numbers from the John McSackOfCrap campaign.
Agreed that McCain will get independents and some Dems.
A lot of conservatives won't vote for him, but he has a large swath of other people who will vote for him who don't like Hitlery.
He's got it in the bag IMO.
Giuliani would not do this unless the VP slot was promised. I will not vote for Giuliani for president or for Vice President.
First the NYT now this. And he campaigns with a liberal democrat.
Homeland Security. Didn't Tooty Frooty nominate his chauffeur for that job?

Thank you, CF. I think Rudy will more likely be used in the role that Bush is using Clinton and his father right now (and Blair in Europe) - kind of as a super secretary of state. I think a cabinet appointment is less likely because McCain would have to expend a lot of political capital and Rudy would go through hell with his personal life.
“Even Rush will tone it down...”
Some years ago I remember a caller asking Rush if he would support McCain against Hillary. He said he would do anything to stop Hillary.
“Fred and McCain are 180 degrees opposite each other in political ideology.”
No they aren’t. Fred was right in there w/McCain on campaign finance reform. That was a McCain-Feingold-Thompson triumvirate.
“Interesting. McCain ended up with a lot of Giulianis votes...Giuliani goes for McCains VP...McCain is a one-termer at best if he wins, and Giuliani is up next”
Guiliani will not be VP. McInsane needs a southerner. Someone like his good sidekick and political ally, Lindsey Grahamnesty. Guiliani will most likely given position of Attorney General, or head of Homeland Security. Or possibly a position on the SCOTUS. Wouldn’t that be a hoot.
My guess is it happened before Crist and Martinez endorsed McCain.
After eight (or more) years of Clinton. And I'm not talking about Bill or Chelsea here.
I don’t know if “a hoot” is the phrase I would use.
“You all sound so much like the Alex Baldwin that vowed to move if Bush were elected, what the hell is wrong with you all?”
We see the handwriting on the wall. None of us will move out of the country, not to worry, but a lot of us will withdraw from the general election and simply stay home. I’m one of them. Someone once said that depression is a realistic assessment of one’s situation in life. Join the funk, unless you can tell me what there is to be optimistic about politically speaking.
Is there a difference?
