The gun issue hurt Romney bad in Florida , as it will in other places . He should have gotten right on this issue from the start .
The irony is that I would be more worried about McCain becoming a no-holds-barred turn-em-all-in gun grabber than Romney.
He did, and you are being a fool. In screaming for perfection, you opposed a man who is as good on guns as McCain, and as good as Bush, and would have largely done wonders for the gun rights movement. HE was actually better than Bush because he supported overturning DC’s gun ban.
If the gun people had spoken the truth about Romney, instead of lying about him, McCain couldn’t have painted Romney as anti-gun when he is not.
Just another special-interest group whose members had no concept of what it takes to win a nomination.
Every special-interest group wanted 100% of their issue. There’s like 10% of the people in the country who are close to being 100% on a large set of issues — that’s a pretty small base.
But short of Romney promising a machine gun in every garage, the pro-gun people were going to call him a gun-grabber.
