You will be happy to know that this week at the Mexican border there has been a change
Instead of just asking the driver of a car...Are you an American citizen ?? What about you passengers ??? The boder guards have to ask for American ID
News to me...I thought ID had been required all along but apparantly not
The change is that now, in addition to showing ID, you have to show proof of citizenship (a passport, birth certificate, military ID, etc.)
I used to show my drivers license and it was no problem, but now I am getting a passport issued (although I’m not in a hurry about it — lately it hasn’t been a good time to go visit Mexico anyway.)
