It will be very fun , if not instructive, over the next few weeks and months to watch FR go from virulently anti-McCain with all the information out there about his record, to a forum in SUPPORT of McCain.

It will be nothing short of amazing, this massive situation ethics-based "rationalizing" and metamorphasis.

It will be interesting to watch, people grasping for straws of arguments to encourage a support of Democrat (R) over Democrat (D) in the General Election. It will all be an illusion that somehow this will ensure and bring us back to TRADITIONAL REAGAN CONSERVATISM in this country.

Then I guess they aren’t “lifelong Republicans.”

Three years ago, McCain almost stopped being one. Never forget that.

There is no point of no return, sorry. Conservatives know that. We've seen a lot worse than this. The country is overall in fine shape. We have some economic problems, but problems in prosperity. We have some security problems, but problems of unity and confidence in our policies, not ability to execute or raw correlation of forces. We have social problems - but those were far worse as recently as pre-Reagan. We have some political balance and ideology problems, but those were far worse in the era of liberal-Keynesian ascendancy.

No, the country is going to do fine. It will pay for poor policy. The least forgiving thing out there isn't domestic politics anyway, it is what might happen with proliferation on a weak watch. That might indeed bite us hard, sometime not too far down the road. Wouldn't be fun, but we'll live, and say "I told you so".

The country became great for a reason. It is not a fragile thing. Our enemies over the years have often thought it was, but they are ashes.

President Hillary with the Horn Dog Bill are lurking..

I wonder if Hillary and the Horn Dog would be more harmful than McCain/Giuliani '08. I'll have to think about that.

Believe me, most folks in the military will pick any Republican over a liberal democrat.

What do you mean, where are the conservatives? They are voting for Huckabee. No, they are voting for Giuliani. Or for Romney. Or for McCain, or for Thompson, and even still for Hunter.

The conservatives fought each other over the candidates. We never had a candidate. Except Thompson, which we couldn’t sell to the average voter.

This nomination fight isn’t over. McCain hardly won florida. But since the only person who could stop him is Romney, and since a good number of conservatives would rather see Romney lose, I don’t see what good it does that Romney might be able to beat him, because we won’t let him.

I’ll tell you one thing- not one of the soldiers I know- and there are plenty- voted for McCain- they don’t trust him.

At least against Hillary there isn’t the age gap McCain vs Obama would show. McCain can beat Hillary but it’ll be ugly and does he have the stamina ?

Yes, I’m a Mormon, and it seems like all the Pro-MITT posters are 21 year old missionaries recently returned.. that are going to name their first-born Mitt.

Augh! It’s so embarrassing. If a Mormon was going to run, why not a real conservative.. starting with a Pro-Life conversion from his youth.
______________________________________________________

Thanks for saying that

The mormon posters in these threads would have us believe that mormons are relatively pro-abortion...

They dont do Romney any good because true conservatives are pro-life since youth as you said

I wish I had your optimism. I’m really trying to believe it will all come out okay in the end. I detest McInsane and will not, under any circumstances, vote for him. Truly depressing.

Just remember America has too many good people and justice will be on her side the opposition can seem like it is robbing and cheating its way to the top, but it will all be unravel soon.

Keep the Faith that is our only job!

Romney may not BE the best conservative in the world, but at least he doesn’t HATE conservatives.

He's a renowned liar. How would you know?

I agree. Just remember - you don’t want to Poss Perot the election and let Billary back in the White House. We will have to stand together and behind who we get to keep that from happening. It’s too important!
