I’m not usually one for conspiracy theories, but TWA 800 didn’t randomly explode. I’m in the missile theory myself. Still haven’t decided if terrorist or accidental friendly fire.

Several things bothered me about what went on with TWA 800. The conclusion, a spark in the fuel compartment, was not followed with any recommendation for a change. No procedural changes, no physical changes to the aircraft, nada.

Second, Al Gore put together a committee at Clinton's request to improve safety. The committee was formed in response to TWA 800. This is from Democrats.Com

On July 25, 1996, shortly after the crash of TWA flight 800, President Clinton asked Vice President Gore to chair a commission on improving air transportation safety. As a result, the White House Commission on Aviation Safety and Security, commonly known as the Gore Commission, conducted an in-depth analysis of the U.S. commercial airlines' safeguards against terrorist attacks. In its final report, the Gore Commission found that security measures used by U.S. airlines were extremely inadequate, and made over fifty recommendations to improve security.
Why did a committee formed to improve safety after an accidental crash focus on deterring terrorist attacks? Finally, George Stephanopoulos referred to the "bombing of TWA 800" once, and other than that, refuses to talk about it.
