McCain's ACU Ratings Randall Hoven
Senator John McCain's lifetime rating of 82.3% from the American Conservative Union is often cited as proof that he is conservative. Here is a closer look at that 82.3 rating.
First, a rating of 82.3 is not really that high. It puts Senator McCain in 39th place among senators serving in 2006, the latest year for which the ACU has its ratings posted online. For that most recent year in particular, McCain scored only 65, putting him in 47th place for that year. Ben Nelson (D-NE) and Chuck Hagel (R-NE), for example, scored 64 and 75, respectively, in 2006.

I’m not surprised. I resided in FL for many years and knew lots of people who were Independents or Libertarians but registered Republican for elections. I just hope Romney hangs in there and comes out ahead in the long run. Either that or I’m going to have to pray for a brokered convention.
Anyone should know that would be the case when the Democrat primary was meaningless. The exit poll said 17% of Republican voters were actually Independents or others, and 3% were Democrats. That’s the only reason McCain won.
Charles, it seems as though everyone we are expected to support is hoped to govern as POTUS more conservative than in the past at whatever position they held.
sad isn’t it?
Umm ... no you dont.
Romney has had zero flipflops in the last few years (he changed his abortion views several years ago).
His campaign positions are clear, consistent and conservative.
if you want a flipflopper, look at Huck, who has been floundering about to find an immigration position.
he was pro-amnesty then 2 months back he flipflopped.
cuba -he flipflopped.
then mccain ... who wont be honest about his McCain-kennedy position. he still supports it, but pretends/lies that his position is no different from the other guys. no true!
Romney, you have to back 14 years to find a contradiction.
For McCain, you only have to compare his russert appearance 7 days ago and his debate answer on immigration and you realize - he is saying 2 different things!
We must not and cannot support pro-amnesty McCain in the primary. he sold us out and I wont sell myself out to support him.
better a convert than a traitor - Another Conservative for Mitt!
Yep, just like Kerry. Except Kerry’s war time record of exploding rice and getting the hell out of Dodge in three months made him the darling of the left.
(Until he lost the election and became a leper).
Still waiting for that 180 Johnny boy.
