Back in the early 80’s when I lived in Mass., I wrote Kennedy to consider prolife views, he said his mother approved of abortion and he does too. So, if Kennedy ever was a prolifer, it was a long, long, time ago.

Yes, it was. I'm not fully informed on the timeline for when one part after another of the Democratic Party fell to the pro-aborts, but it's been a gradual process overtaking every prominent Democrat from Ted Kennedy to Jesse Jackson to Bill Clinton to Dick Gephardt and Dennis Kucinich.
Mitt Romney in 1994 claimed that Kennedy was weak on abortion because he'd only supported it for - I dunno, 20 years? Now Mitt claims to be pro-life the last 3 years and he expects people to take him at his word. There's a sucker born every minute, but not this FReeper.
