The experts say he was murdered and we have no evidence of foul play? Somebody is in the wrong job - picking up grocery carts from the parking lot might suit them better.

Spokesman Sean McCormack identified the diplomat as Keith Ryan, an attache from the Department of Homeland Security. Investigations were continuing, he said, but we have no indication at this point that it involves foul play.Ok then.

I’d speculate that it was NOT Islamic terrorists - they’d want to get more public recognition for their work. Beyond that, I wouldn’t hazard a guess from the evidence presented as to who killed him, or why.
And the police report could either be a clumsy attempt at a cover up, or just incompetent investigation.

If the gun was found three feet away, this was a suicide, not murder or islamic terrorists.
For some reason, he was being sent home, and his family didn’t have him on their vacation.
Something very dysfunctional was going on.
Most murders don’t occur with someone breaking into your bathroom shortly before you have to leave for the airport. You can shoot yourself in the neck, but it’s hard to get that gun more than three feet away before you die.

the bullet could not be found even in X-Ray That's because he went out to the Post Office and mailed it home so no one would think it was foul play.

More reports: A medical officer, who has examined the wound of the dead US diplomat at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has said the injury was an entry wound almost at the back of the head. The officer, who desired not to be named, was skeptical when asked whether the victim could have shot himself to death.
It was also reported that a suicide note was also recovered from near his body. However, there was no independent confirmation of such a recovery.
It is strange to note that a sizeable number of security officials are deployed at houses of IGP and Chief Commissioner exactly opposite to the place of occurrence but no one heard the gunshot.

There’s no reason for a person to shoot him/herself in the back of the neck except in an attempt to make the death appear to be a murder.US diplomats worldwide, particularly those in I Slamic countries should be better protected.

Keith Ryan, 37, Globe sportswriter’s son, found dead
Globe Staff / January 28, 2008
Growing up in Hingham, Keith Ryan held his political beliefs so strongly that he seemed like a real-life version of a popular TV character who was considerably more conservative than everyone else in his household.
more stories like this”We used to kid when he was in high school that it was like ‘Family Ties’ — he was Alex Keaton,” said Mr. Ryan’s father, Bob, a sports columnist for the Globe.
His political convictions brought Mr. Ryan into a career of federal service, which ultimately led to Pakistan, where he was an attache for the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, based in Islamabad. Mr. Ryan apparently took his life, according to the US State Department, and was found today in his Islamabad residence. He was 37 and was about to return home to visit his wife and three children in Silver Spring, Md.
“As anyone who has been confronted with the suicide of a family member can tell you, the only word to describe the sensation is devastated,” Bob Ryan said. “We will always have questions.”
The US Embassy in Pakistan issued a statement praising Mr. Ryan, who, his father said, had been stationed in Islamabad since December 2006.
“Mr. Ryan was a well-respected, trusted, and longtime member of the US Mission in Pakistan,” the statement said. “His death is a great loss.
He will be sorely missed by all who have known and worked with him here in Pakistan.”
~snip~
Twelve years ago, he married Kate Moriarty. They have 8-year-old triplets, Conor, John, and Amelia. Mr. Ryan also leaves a sister, Jessica of Hingham. ~snip~
