The test at the time tested basic skills in math, reading, and writing. When students reached high school, these skills should have already been taught, per the curriculum. It had nothing to do with the test not being coordinated with the curriculum. Test scores = funding. So the test became our focus. Until the students took the test, we lived and breathed the test. I don’t know what the schools do now. I haven’t been in the classroom for 14 years.
You must be really young to not have lived through the Carter/Clinton years. Geesh. Study history a little bit.
Aww, that's sweet.
I'm proud to be an American regardless of Bush.
When a man falls under a bus, that’s news, that’s an event. When a politician gives a speech, that’s theater. Know the difference!
He was injured in WW2 causing loss of use of one arm and hand.
Did Bob Dole do something to his hand?
@@@@@
His arm was severely damaged in World War II. He has coped with a weak right arm ever since.
Wow...they all stood up!
Totally true! Totally true! The MSM have hardly given a word to President Bush during the past months while the election nightmare has been proceeding.
Seeing and hearing President Bush again is like a breath of fresh air - it is like viewing/hearing a true leader - while glancing over at the field of imposters jockeying for the PRIVILEGE of “leading” this country after him. (Of course all they truly seek is POWER not the Privilege of serving this country, unlike President Bush who has truly seen himself as a SERVANT of his beloved America.
Well said.
Thank you President Bush... I love you and will miss you.
“By trusting the people, our Founders wagered that a great and noble Nation could be built on the liberty that resides in the hearts of all men and women. By trusting the people, succeeding generations transformed our fragile young democracy into the most powerful Nation on earth and a beacon of hope for millions. And so long as we continue to trust the people, our Nation will prosper, our liberty will be secure, and the State of our Union will remain strong. [applause] So tonight, with confidence in freedom’s power, and trust in the people, let us set forth to do their business. God bless America!” [sustained applause]
Great job, Mr. President!!!
God bless him indeed.
His war injuries prevent full movement of his arms!
Short speech!!!!!
70 rounds of applause...good, especially things for the troops!
Brit: Bush got 70 rounds of applause
They threatened to ban me on a golf thread of all things.
Hey that was a short SOTU.
