Howard Baker gives the nod to McCain

Former Senate Majority Leader Howard Baker has endorsed John McCain for president.

Baker was influential in convincing fellow Tennessean Fred Thompson to run and was an honorary national chair on his campaign.

Baker, who ran unsuccessfully for president in 1980, was also Ronald Reagan's chief of staff and recently served as the U.S. ambassador to Japan.

In a statement released Saturday, McCain said Baker gave up his own political aspirations to join Reagan's staff and guided the president's tax cuts during the 1980s. McCain pledged to continue the Reagan tradition that Baker served.

A spokesman for Baker said the former Tennessee senator would make a statement later.

-"This is the worst election ever."

My how quickly many forget.

And people thought that Bush "compromised" alot with the RATs and conservative principles?????.......

OK ALL YOU "MACMADS" OUT THERE - THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE SUPPORTING >>>>>>>.....

McCain-Feingold — the most brazen frontal assault on political speech since Buckley v. Valeo.

McCain-Kennedy — the most far-reaching amnesty program in American history.

McCain-Lieberman — the most onerous and intrusive attack on American industry — through reporting, regulating, and taxing Authority of greenhouse gases — in American history.

McCain-Kennedy-Edwards — the biggest boon to the trial bar since the tobacco settlement, under the rubric of a patients’ bill of rights.

McCain-Reimportantion of Drugs — a significant blow to pharmaceutical research and development, not to mention consumer safety (hey Rudy, pay attention, see link).

Howard Baker is a Lobbyist for the Saudis.

The Saudis are pushing the Wahabi agenda and are nuber one in pushing for the islamofacist foothold in Kosovo.
Below is a link to McCain IN KLA terrorists front men.
However the MSM does not connect the dots.

This is the BS that the MSM is supposed to be connecting...

http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a38b7e6657eee.htm.

Please direct your attention to the photo below: the caption informs us that McCain is speaking at "a pro-Kosovo, pro-McCain rally across the street from his New York City hotel Friday morning, Feb. 11, 2000. McCain is in New York for the day to attend fundraisers and to talk to the press before returning to South Carolina Friday night." But who is the man on the right, with the colorful KLA scarf and his big mouth wide open? The caption-writer is mute on this point, but to anyone who knows anything about New York's ethnic politics, the face is all-too-familiar: it is none other than former Republican Congressman Joe DioGuardi, now the loquacious leader of the Albanian-American Civic League (AACL) – a group that not only actively represents the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) in America, but whose leader has become a spokesman for the most radical fringe elements of the KLA.

way to go Mr. Baker, help the enemy. McCain is just a useful idiot old man.

It is pretty sad. This is the first presidential election since I have been eligible to vote (1977) in which I have zero enthusiasm.

I think it was Howard Phillips who said in 1992 he did not care who won that election, which shocked many conservatives. He said it did not matter if we went off the cliff at 90 mph with the Dems, or 80 mph with non ideological Republicans. It pretty much feels that same way this time.

He is just beginning his life, and if the dims gain control, it will be bad.

With any luck, 4 years of a McCain Presidency or if the bad ship MS Hillary or Osama-Obama gains the Whitehouse, coupled with a DemocRat controlled Congress, the resulting catastrophe might just flush out the next Ronaldus Magnus. It's a pity that we have to pay that kind of price for a little of what used to be called "common sense", though.

Please apologize to your grandson for me, too. When the time comes, appologize to his children, too. It's their money the politicians are spending hand over fist right now.....to buy votes.

I am disgusted with my gubmint beyond any level of disgust I've ever reached in my 45 years. This current crop of traitors is a spectacle to behold.

Just about everyone in the GOP that I am heartily sick of seems to have a sweet tooth for John McCain. Should the ringleader of the Gang of 14 get the nomination, I will consider myself done with (as Rush put it) "carrying their water." If I had wanted to put a Joe Lieberman in the White House, I'd have voted for the real one back in 2000.

If McCain gets the nomination, I will leave the Republican Party in disgust. I hope, if that happens, that a 3rd Party - one that espouses true federalist/conservative principles - will be formed by a grassroots effort. The sooner we get started on it, the sooner it will happen.

Well, that does it for me. If Howie is for mcpain, I’ll no longer call him mcpain, I’ll call him “Number 3” of the Keating five.

Will we get a McCain-Thompson ticket to mollify us at the convention?
________________

McCain does not give a damn about the GOP, conservative base. He is going to name Lieberman so he can boast a historic cross-party ticket. Hillary or Obama as an opponent will force the GOP to try to be “out of the box” so McCain will choose either a black VP (Steele or Kaine?) or go to his standby, Lieberman. Wouldn’t it be weird for the conservative part of a GOP ticket to be a northeastern Democrat?

Could be. Politics makes interesting bedfellows(sluts). Baker is just another one of those, oh, so reasonable RINO’s, sitting on the fence to see which way the wind blows. Though a Thompson supporter, it made me wonder about him if Baker was his mentor. Since he dropped out, I’ll go for Mitt. AbBMcC.

Endorsements do not determine my vote. I was with Fred, now Romney. The fix is in though. We will get McCain.

I would rather vote for Rudy, but think Romney has a wider base of support here in the Sunshine State. I would love to see a Romney/Rudy ticket.

Like you, I was a FredHead. All might not be lost, let’s just see this primary season and the convention through. There’s still a chance we could get a pleasant surprise.

I am very suspicious of all the support McCain is getting. I can’t find anyone who wants him at the top, or even on, the ticket.

How do you mean - he has always voted R? He voted against W’s tax cuts (now saying he wanted spending cuts). He has done many things against conservatives - CFB, etc. I don’t like any of the current crop. They all seem to be bad seeds.

They really dare not run the Grumpy Old Men ticket, all other considerations aside.

I was looking at a Wiki list the other day and I could only find 3 guys in the U.S. Senate during the Carter years I would classify as real conservatives (from memory, admittedly I was in high school then).

It seems to me that there were no “Reaganites” before 1983 or so, (except maybe Jessie Helms) and then they all wanted to be one.

That’s why I don’t blame a young Fred Thompson for coming under the wing of Howard Baker....Baker was very much the mainstream of the party until Reagan came along.
