Romney Attacks McCain on McCain-Lieberman
Fox News ^ | January 27, 2008 | Shushannah Walshe

Posted on 01/27/2008 3:52:14 PM PST by TheLion

The former Massachusetts governor also brought up a new attack going after his rival on his legislation, the McCain-Lieberman Climate Stewardship Act:

“Instead of seeing if there’s a way of stimulating the economy, McCain-Lieberman would depress the economy. His plan calls for a new financial burden to be placed on people who are purchasing gasoline or for that matter natural gas to heat their homes or to cook in their homes. The energy information agency has said that his plan would cost America 300,000 jobs. In addition, people would pay, they estimate, approximately 50 cents per gallon more for gasoline and 20% more for their gas utility bill. That would depress the economy just at a time when we’re trying to stimulate the economy,” Romney continued, tearing into McCain on his understanding of the economy, “One of the challenges with having a president who in this case, we’re talking in this case, a presidential candidate, who says on repeated occasion that he doesn’t understand the economy terribly well is that he would suggest a policy that would actually depress the economy rather than stimulate it at the very time we need our economy to have a greater boost. “

I noticed when Russert interviewed McCain today once again all he could do was name drop...I notice he references Jack Kemp an awful lot. Glad Romney is coming out against McCain...

Romney should have been slamming McCain over global warming all along! Crist, imo, endorsed McCain because of global warming.

I like McCain’s character, and I will vote for him over Clinton or Obama, but I disagree with him on global warming. He has obviously swallowed Al Gore’s fraud hook, line, and sucker—I mean sinker.

I wondered about Lieberman being with McCain, until it dawned on me about the global warming junk. I don’t think it will help him with conservatives.

Just shows you who McCain is more closely aligned with.

Maybe he should get Hillary to stump for him!

Romney is clearly better than McCain on immigration and the global warming hoax, and that’s enough reasons to prefer him. You can’t always find perfection in politics.

The more McCain is seen with Lieberman, the more Republicans will support for Mitt.

Romney has said that any plan to reduce green house gases etc would require all countries to be on board....he would not strap business at a disadvantage.

McCain is the embodiment of the problems facing the Republicans. He is a maverick that torpedoed many of the Republican goals in the legislature. It's no wonder he tries to direct the campaign topics away from the economy and onto to war....He wouldn't want voters to consider further escalation of gas & oil prices under his leadership.
