Obama would be a formidable candidate but people do not actually listen to him. I was watching the crowd behind him during his acceptance speech. They were going into tent revival style ecstacies at his every sentence and I was trying to figure out what the heck he was saying.

I finally realized he was saying nothing but saying it really well.

Dead on. And when you combine that with the fact that people aren't listening for content, you can begin to understand how captivating he can be.

A friend and I were just talking about that speech,
and for what should’ve been a gleeful situation, he
had a strangely somber, bewildered look on his face.

My friend heard a talking head say that he has been
viscerally hurt by the Clinton tactics .. if so,
it was showing in his demeanor. Very serious, few
smiles. It stood out to me.
