Good to see you - how are things?
Not any better, but no worse. This week will likely tell the tale with my dad. It’s pretty certain he can’t go home and, if he can be brought up to a little better than he is now, then we’ll shift him to a nursing facility (not a nursing home, per se, but a place to try therapy and make sure he has the close care his current condition requires). If they can’t achieve that level with him then it’s likely that we’ll lose him fairly soon, just a matter of when.
We’re getting set to “reboot” my treatment since 9 months worth of what they had been trying hasn’t made any progress and there’s still no explanation for the weight loss. I start a new round of tests on Tuesday, starting with a CAT scan (mmmmmmm, drinking a big glass of barium... yuck) followed by an endoscopic examination the week after, where they’ll take tissue of anything and everything for biopsy. We’ll see what comes of those to then try to figure a next step.
