You are absolutely right about the Republican candidates' need to support President Bush. No matter how hard the media is working to re-write history, he did win re-election in 2004 for several reasons.

Too many Republicans run their campaigns to please the media, responding to polls. In other words, they act like Democrats. And that explains how the Republicans lost Congress in 2006; acting like Democrat aristocracy.

When we get Republican candidates who are willing to act and vote like Republicans, they will take over the majority position again.

Mitt has been the best candidate in terms of supporting President Bush, with Rudy close to him. McCain and Huck have been the worst. No surprise there.

McCain constantly beating up on Donald Rumsfeld is disrespectful and smarmy. McCain is either name dropping or bashing Rumsfeld. That’s not character, it’s sleaze.
