Carl Bernstein isn't just, on the basis of his Watergate-busting fame, a liberal icon. He's also a certified Hillary Clinton expert, having devoted years to researching and writing a definitive biography of her, A Woman in Charge. So his comments tonight on Hillary's graceless reaction to her stunning defeat at the hands of Barack Obama carry special weight, and are likely to reverberate through Dem circles. Here's Bernstein's brutal take, appearing on CNN .
CARL BERNSTEIN: One of the worst nights of Hillary Clinton's life. She had a chance at the end of the evening to be magnanimous, to say something about where her campaign is going to go. Instead she was shopworn, tired; it's exactly what they don't need, the Clinton campaign, and she's going to have an uphill fight from here in.
View the video here, not only to hear Bernstein's remarks, but to watch a graceless Hillary acknowledge Obama's victory only in passing while spending most of the same sentence speaking of primaries to come.

I wouldnt be so sure. I bet Web Hubble was petty good lookin when he was younger. But he was no lady...
LOL, so true.
Thanks for the ping Mark. Interesting comments from Carl and interesting video.
I don't actually think that to be the case, at least not yet. If it ever is, she's done for despite her possession of the most powerful Democrat machine in the country - New York's. Obama is not to be disregarded there, either - his own machine, Chicago's, is the second most powerful Democrat machine in the country. If the predominantly East Coast media ever do turn on Hillary it will constitute a sea change in American politics.
But perhaps a bit too much is being made of South Carolina. I got the sense she blew that state off some weeks ago. Why? Because she denied it.
If I’m not mistaken, earlier in the evening I thought he was praising Bill for the way he conducted the campaign which will bode well for her with Latino and white voters in the big States. I suspect his tune may have changed when he saw the exit polls and realized the defeat she suffered partly due to her hubby.
I happened to catch Bill on CNN about 3 hrs ago. He congratualted Obama, said he won fair and square. He’s doing Hill’s dirty wrok.
Not according to an internal memo that Drudge posted where they thought Bill knocking on every black vote would help her win, coupled with how much money and manpower she invested in the State. Larry Sabato said her campaign believed she'd win by 2%.
Imagine all the grunting, sweating and drooling going on that night. Ol’ Webb was probably praying to be struck deaf and blind at that moment.
Thanks to the soviet style super delegate system the rats have instituted Hillary has this in the bag already.
The difference is that Obama must now definitely be the VP candidate and that will make things pretty interesting in the general.
If he didn't think he was gay before it happened he no doubt did afterward.
No, that was Webb Hubble's worst night of his life.
“I thought the night she conceived Chelsea was the worst night of her life.”
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Yeah, I think most women would shudder at the thought of “sleeping” with Web Hubbell. lol.
Shopwhoren
Yep, one tough night for Hillary. Bill ain't happy and Obama look out tomorrow for another racist blast.
My apologies, South.
(Note to self, try to look through all the replies before jumping in with both feet!)
“I thought the night she conceived Chelsea was the worst night of her life.”
You mean with Webb Hubbel?
I wish there was a way to make money off the ashtray shortage in SC right about now.
Dang! I should have scrolled down. You beat me to the punch.
Touche!
