Fire crews on top of the 3,000-room hotel at 3770 Las Vegas Blvd. S. are trying to contain the blaze, which broke out shortly after 11 a.m.

Four welders who were working on the roof were trapped there, but they were recently rescued.

The blaze began at the top of the hotel and has spread down into four different parts, including the roof, a top corner of the building and a couple of floors down from the roof. There are 32 floors and about 3,000 people staying at the hotel, which is owned by MGM Mirage.

The interview didnt last long. As soon as Shep asked about what his neighbors saw him carrying out of the house, Peterson bolted from the interview.

He is guilty as sin! I hope they can nail him this time.

I think it probably was debris. The reports I’ve heard state nobody was injured. People are funny. Their reactions are interesting.

Good grief...those hotels have more sprinklers than any other buildings in America...like one every ten feet. The FFs did a good jump getting up there with hosepacks and connecting to the standpipes. I doubt there was any water supply problem.

Yes, I always predicted a lot of cancellations... it was on five of the 8 news feeds on DirecTV. You are always gonna lose some people because of stuff like this.

What is taking them so long? I guess I’d be happier if they wait and get it right, so he doesn’t walk, but it rubs me the wrong way to see that smug a.h. prancing around with a knowing smile on his face all the time.

Most of the fire was outside on the facade and roof. Fox was reporting that the sprinklers did work for any fires inside, but there aren’t sprinklers on the facade or the roof.

Nope. Just the standard 'ain't no sprinklers on the roof' (or in the facade) problem.

I'm still trying to figure out how they got a nozzle eight feet out one of the lower windows, though. They were getting an angle up, and backwards at one point. All the rest of the operation looked to be pretty much to drill.

I would lay money on the facade being some type of recycled plastic. It burned just like a soda bottle — black smoke, rapid spread and flaming, melted debris.

"What is taking them so long?"

No human remains.

Did you notice the hose streams were actually chasing it into unburned areas? Pretty flammable stuff, all right.

Terrorism a possibility?

Terrorists would start the fire so as to kill as many people as possible and destroy the building. Starting the fire near the roof accomplishes neither of those.

The fire could not have started on their Craps Tables. They were ice cold when I was there last week.

I’m going to blame it on welders.

Wasn't this thread in Breaking News? I can never figure out the admin mod's logic on removing stuff from Breaking News.

I mean, this was today and it's gone but Sunday's football game thread is still listed.

Go figure.

They do have the former wife though, and it seems clear there was foul play there also.

You have made a good point.

That's kind of clever and fitting, your use of the past tense of the Dutch "spuit", meaning "to squirt."
