We're going to the Gold Strike in Tunica, MS Sunday night. We'll walk over to the The Horseshoe and enjoy their great buffet!

Thanks for those comments. I’m sure the lower floors are easier to evacuate also, if you’re a guest.

It does look that way- from outside- but as you point out- who knows what’s going on inside. Starting to see gray smoke now in some areas- good news!

Shep Smith’s all over it now.

The Casino itself is not on fire.

Those LV firefighters are true pros. They appear to be doing a very effective job in a very tough situation.

“Yeah, but will they honor their chips?”

Bellagio, Monte Carlo and NY-NY are owed by the same company. Although pretty much any Vegas casino you go into will accept chips from other properties. They’re referred to as foreign chips.

Yes it’s a hoot to watch them try to come up with a constant sream of comments when things like this happen. There are times when I’m sure they wish they could have some of the comments back.

This is a weird one..

Not at all. As they start fighting the fire, it can be split up into numerous smaller fires that make it appear to have multiple ignition sites.

Latest report I heard is that it appears the fire started in the A/C / heating units which are located directly behind the 2 story facade on the top.

Also, for those who do not know, the top row of windows are not rooms. Just looks like it.

Sprinkler systems are located throughout the interior and reports suggest the interior is not currently a problem.

Also, for second guessers, the fire departments in Vegas train considerably for these events and absolutely know what they are doing.

Well as soon as I said that, they mention that the fire department spokesperson says it will be a logn time before they can declare it fully out.

There will be a lot of nooks and crannies that will need to be checked out.

Terrorists or the Union?

I guess it's the same thing.

Good point. That’s why it traveled across so quickly. Generally walls will slow it down.

I’ll qualify that- visually it’s weird for a civilian non-firefighter. Thanks for clarifying!

Oddly enough, from this link....

Clinton prevails among Nevada voters

...Some, such as Qumar Faridi, a union shop steward at the nearby Monte Carlo casino, voted with the union and supported Mr Obama. "We have to stick together . . . we can't break away," he said. Mrs Clinton, he added, was "not union-friendly"...

you mean like Binions Horseshoe? (my fav casino)

Mine too. The only place I can win at Blackjack on a regular basis. (Don't tell the pit boss)

FYI, no longer the Horseshoe, Harrah's took the name and the WSOP when it owned Binions for the better part of a day.
