In 2004, the voters of Arizona, by 56 percent to 44 percent, enacted Proposition 200, requiring proof of citizenship before an individual may vote or receive state benefits. Forty-six percent of Hispanics voted for Prop. 200, giving the lie to those who say Hispanics support the illegal invasion of their country.
Over 190,000 Arizonans petitioned to put Prop. 200 on the ballot. As it simply required proof of citizenship before receiving the benefits and privileges of citizenship, who could oppose it? Answer: the entire GOP congressional delegation, led by Sen. John McCain.

One of my bigger concerns for the next few years is the replacement of the Supreme Court Justices who will be retiring soon. Either of the “Rats would appoint someone left of Joe Stalin...
Running around heralding a composite of votes to claim conservative stature is hyperventilating and does NOT expose the reality of what was and still is. This man wants to be president, and he does not care what he has to do to become president. Does reality even phase you?
“This man wants to be president, and he does not care what he has to do to become president.”
For a second there, I thought you were talking about Mitt Romney.
Yeah, it makes sense to look at the history of his voting record. I keep reading people here saying he literally votes just like Obama/Clinton, that is patently false. You can scream all day about his one vote on the tax cuts, immigration, etc, but that doesn’t change reality and make him the same as Hillary Clinton. That is beyond hyperbole, and people here know better.
From the beginning we were given the heads up from President Bush of his ‘get along with liberals’ policy he used in Texas. I think it is his view of a working democracy... let the voters -people- who elected these Senators have what they want. I do not think he wanted to wage war over the never ending assaults about campaign money, so he signed it with a ‘sigh’ and prayer the Supremes would strike it rightfully down.
Had McCain expended one tenth of his energy in dethroning liberalism and Hillary you would not be needing to wave like a white flag his voting record. Maybe if he had done to Hillary what he claims he succeeded in doing to Rummy he might have an ounce of credibility.

Nobody is waving any white flags. I'm just bringing ... *gasp* ... reality back into this conversation. His voting record is there to see, and we know what his proposed policies are TODAY.
Interestingly another candidate has a lot of history out there that "conservatives" are ignoring, funny that he gets a pass but somebody who has voted consistently with his conservative ideas doesn't get that here.
I'm just looking forward to the FL primary, we're going to need a huge group of grief counselors here at the boards.
Who cares what the racist and antisemitic extremist thinks.
As an Arizonan I fully agree with avoiding McCain. That wasn’t the “straw man” I was referring to. I was asking if the perfectly vetted candidate had to conform to every expectation of RetiredArmy or if there was room for disappointment. In particular, I don’t think GWB took the right stance on immigration, but to bash him with mocking names and such “utter disappointment” is setting every guy up to disappoint. Exactly what would the remarks sound like if H or O get elected? Do we as Americans cooperate with the Pres. or are we a bunch of rogues?
I keep seeing these numbers with no reference to a creditable source. I suspect that the numbers are at least double those.
Anybody out there have a reference to a valid study on just how bad it is?
