Club for Growth goes after McCain TRIBUNE-REVIEW by Salena Zito Posted January 24, 2008 10 :38 PM BOCA RATON, Fla. -- During the debate, the Club for Growth sent out an e-mail criticizing one of John McCains answers.
The e-mail highlighted McCain's statement that he voted against the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts because I knew, unless we had spending under control, we would face a disaster.
The e-mail began: There is one problem with this statement: Its not entirely true. In 2001, Senator McCain stole a page out of Ted Kennedys class-warfare playbook, dec

We may be stuck between the Devil and the Witch! I’ll take the Devil.
The Club For Growth had better start thinking about how to defeat Hillary Clinton.
Preventing McCain or Huckabee from being the nominee may be the best strategy at the moment.
He shilled for Gore's global warming snake oil.
NYTimes endorsed him.
He's not going to be the GOP nominee.
Rudy did the far better job of handling that question.
actually, in a straight up general election, McCain has the best chance because independent voters would overwhelmingly go for him, as would the purported 17% of democrats who refuse to vote for Hillary.
Romney is another John Kerry-—his flip flopping and his weird statements will torpedo him in a general
Yes. Their eye is on the wrong ball.
If you are going by the polls it is way to early to tell. The presidential polls this far out do not mean a thing.
They are. The first step is to make sure Captain Queeg isn't the nominee.
romney is sharp and smart. remember Dole was also supposed to be the sure thing
mccain is dole all over again
Romney would have an uphill battle against Hillary in the South. We'll see how well they run here over the next couple of weeks.
Are you kidding?
As if other problems many have with the guy isn't enough!
To me, McCain going along with that "it's all our fault" global warming hooey, is almost as bad as Obama saying that our troops are fighting in the wrong theatre, we should take them out of Iraq [now!] and send them instead, to the Paki-Afghan border, and then into Pakistan!
Wait, maybe it is as bad...
South Dakota, maybe... But not here in the Heart of Dixie
More importantly he will probably run as an independent if he doesn't get the nomination. He could have done so against Bush but he didn't. This time he will. That is why his mama thinks they will have to vote for him.
If he(McCain) runs as an independent Hillary wins by a landslide.
Easy Does It
Yes, especially in the Heart of Dixie. Let's be honest: There is a large bloc of voters in the South who are saying they will never vote for Romney because he is a Mormon. There is a whispering campaign going on about it. I've heard it myself.
If Romney gets the nomination, I'll gladly support him. But the fact remains that he has high negative ratings in the South on the basis of his religion, and that would work to female Methodist Democrat's benefit. The election could turn on that factor.
MeCain will finally become a real Democrat.
Could be.
More likely he will get Lieberman to join him as his VP and go independent.
The media will have him convinced that they can win. In fact it will gaurantee that the Republican nominee will not.
Easy Does It
