I posted the full transcript in response to another post of yours. And in that transcript, I show that he did NOT say he WOULD sign a reuthorization.

He DID say he would sign a ban on weapons of “unusual lethality”, but that there were no such laws being proposed. Since there IS AWBs being proposed, it was clear that they did not meet his definition.

He has more clearly defined what he means by “unusual lethality” on his web site. Hand Grenades, RPGs. Weapons that can cause mass casualties. Some ridicule his statement saying that all weaons are lethal, but that just shows they understand that such an interpretation would be silly.

You think I can’t be scared of people exercising their freedom, while still being for that freedom?

I believe in the right of everybody to vote, but whenever I read anything from DU or DailyKos, it scares the h*ll out of me that they can vote.

You may think that means I don’t really believe in the right to vote. I think it just shows I’m sane.

Yes, you beat me too it. You even made bold the relevant parts. Isn't that just like you to be so thorough.

;)

We were talking about how well he did in the debate... and you said the "recent polls" showed he won. I asked you which poll you were talking about, because on the MSNBC website, he isn't winning. So you didn't answer my question. (not that it's a big deal, but you were the one who made the assertion)

I think people need to look at these videos, before they jump on the "Mitt's our guy!" bandwagon. The more I look into Romney, the more I'm realizing he's just not very principled, genuine or trustworthy.

Some of these people here on FR are the main reason I cannot come to terms embracing candidates that make me ill to even consider voting for... They are mean, evil, vicious and many are paid to come here and spew their rhetoric and disinformation. If these candidates are wanting men and women of principle to vote for them, they need to admit that they were wrong in their past positions and actions... instead they want us to believe that they are something that they are not... and have always been this fabricated person. romney should be saying that he was wrong for being pro abortion... wrong for being for socialized medicine, wrong on his positions on the Second Amendment etc and he could even say that he had to govern as a liberal in a liberal state. When they lie about it and then expect us to swallow lies that are so blatant and so easily disproved... and then send out people to denigrate those that will not accept this dog and pony show.. well that is not the way to sway someone to vote for you that does not agree with you positions.

As I noted in another reply, your quote does not support your claim that he said “yes” to “support the reuthorization of the AWB.

In fact, he NEVER said he would reauthorize it, and in your own quote there he explicitly said he did not support ANY of the currently proposed AWB measures.

You are GUESSING at what he meant by “extraordinary lethality”, when I can quote from his own press release which SAYS what he meant. He specifically said that there were weapons that were currently restricted, and that if someone came up with a new weapon that would fit that same definition, but which was NOT covered under the 1934 law, he would certainly consider a law to cover it.

And while you say we don’t have plasma pulse rifles, that is EXACTLY the point — what if someone has a breakthrough and next year they can BUILD them? They wouldn’t be covered under existing law, but maybe Romney would consider a law banning them.

Look, a less honest politician would have just said “NO”. And if someone made a pulse weapon, he’d say “Well, I couldn’t possibly have imagined they would make one of those”.

But Romney is a smart man, and CAN imagine things being done like that. And he wanted to be TRUTHFUL, and so he truthfully said that there was a possibility that a new weapon would be created that needed to be covered.

I disagree with him in principle on that matter, but as I’ve noted before, NONE of our candidates have expressed ANY support for repealing the 1934 law or the 1986 law.

So they all support the same laws that Romney said he supported.

So in summary: THe MTP transcript shows that Romney did NOT say “YES” to ANYTHING, because he never used the word. It shows he did NOT support re-authorizing the AWB now, but only HAD supported it in the past. And it shows he opposed NEW bills except for a NEW weapon, and that NONE of the currently proposed AWBs fell under that category.

That’s what the transcript SAYS.

>but we have no candidates that can withstand the coming war clinton style. The most astute post all night.

TBD.

I wouldn't give Hillary such a big hug. I think Mitt will be our first candidate since Reagan who is articulate and who has the energy to fight a Clinton type war.

Ping to post where I show that the MTP transcript does not support the claims made here against Mitt Romney.

"....Thanks for the 'word'.....",p> You're welcome; just my thoughts.

I once heard it expressed this way: Knowledge can be learned from books; it's what a person does with that knowledge that makes him "wise".

So you didn't answer my question.

Yes I did. I said I disregarded the Ron Paul votes in the MSNBC poll because the lunatic fringe were obviously busy again.

So of McCain, Huckabee, and Guiliani - which one IS principled, genuine, or trustworthy?

We don't have a great field to pick from and I bet you can't honestly say ANY of them are. (Of course, perhaps, you'll say Ron Paul and then go vote 100 times or more in some online poll....THAT really makes his supporters look principled, genuine, and trustworthy!)
