Company must have been using Mac computers. PC’s you can always get someone to recover your files.

These guys never heard of off-site backup? A disgruntled employee is one of the biggest sources of mass data loss.

As an IT professional, I’ve been preaching the gospel of backups for many years. And, it never ceases to amaze me that we still hear stories like this one. I’ll add this one to my testimonial file...

The data is still intact as long as the drive hasn’t been overwritten. You can even get to it then, but the costs are considerably greater. I good forensics guy could get that data back in a few hours.

If all she did was hit delete, I’d guess most of it is recoverable.

Company must have been using Mac computers. PCs you can always get someone to recover your files. Platform doesn't matter. There are utilities on both platforms for recovering "erased" data. But in this story, they used a data recovery firm to recover the files.
I bet the woman feels kind of foolish now. /sarc

I believe data recovery is different that restoring data that has been backed up. Longer process and it’s gonna cost ya.

Wow, this is like those “want to get away” commercials.
Oops.
To: Domandred
If they were simply deleted, I could get them back, even on a Mac.
He prolly went the expensive route, because he didn’t want to take any chance. Can’t blame him.
