good article - except for the last line!
Got news for Rheinhart, McCain has NOT been solidly pro-life for years.
I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it.
The media love Maverick John because, in addition to keeping them entertained, they know they can destroy him if he ever wins the nomination.
The day after his nomination, they’ll turn on him with glee. He has so much baggage, it will be a contest to see how fast they can make him melt down spectacularly.
Not the picture of a healthy, mentally stable individual.
McCain is brutal. Nobody but NOBODY sums it up like Ann did yesterday:
I happen to believe that in many ways McCain would be worse than Hillary.
Most importantly, perhaps, McCain is NOT a war hero. He was a big-time screwup. He was near the bottom of his class. He crashed five of his own planes. And although he did suffer as a POW in North Vietnam, he subsequently betrayed his fellow POW/MIAs, abusing his position as chair of the POW/MIA committee to cover up what was known about them and strike a deal with North Vietnam.
Of all his sins, crimes and misdemeanors, that to me was the worst.
He would not permit waterboarding our terrorist enemies, when it might saves American lives; yet he deliberately betrayed his fellow MIAs to obscurity and death.
Given a choice between McCain or Hillary in the White House I would far prefer McCain even though some of his positions are contrary to mine particularly his campaign finance reform and immigration bills. President Hillary would be a disaster for the US both economically and in security. Hillary’s rush to socialism will cause the US economy to fall on its face and her stance on global terrorism would mean IEDs would be exploding in US rather than Iraqi cities. Perhaps the only good thing to come out of Hillary’s presidency would be that it would pretty well assure the Democrats would be out of power for at least 20 years starting with the 2010 elections.
My main concern about John McCain, besides the fact that he has shown great antipathy toward conservative beliefs, is that he would be terrible on the War on Terror. McCain might have had good suggestions for the Iraq and Afghanistan battles, but they are only individual fronts on the WOT. McCain has not shown a willingness to protect us from the Islamic extremists on any other front.
