HUNTER ENDORSES HUCKABEE FOR PRESIDENTFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 23, 2008CONTACT: Gary Becks (619) 334-1655Washington, D.C. - - - Congressman Duncan Hunter, who withdrew his candidacy for the Republican Presidential nomination on January 19, 2007 , today endorsed Mike Huckabee."I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail," said Hunter. "Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China's emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of America's industrial base.""Along with these issues of national security, border enforcement and protecting the U.S. industrial base, I see another quality of Mike Huckabee's candidacy that compels my endorsement. Mike Huckabee is a man of outstanding character and integrity. I saw that character over the last year of campaigning and was greatly impressed. The other Republican candidates have many strengths and I wish them all well. My personal choice is Mike Huckabee," Hunter concluded.# # #

I'll bite. Let the rest of us in on what's wrong with the way this was posted and why in particular you felt the need to say something about it.
Hey old boy, get over it.
“This identity, tribal politics has to stop.”
EVERYONE practices “identity” politics to some extent. Those that say they don’t are saying untruths or lies. Besides, you may as well ask the wind not to blow. For many of us, we honestly admit I beliefs define who we are.
“Mormons are as good Americans and neighbors as any other religious group, and better than most”
Sorry, I must disagree. I’m known too many mormons have some that are relatives. Mormonisn is an honest to goodness cult that was started by a true Elmer Gantry/David Koresh in the 19th Century - Joseph Smith.
It has just better at putting on the smiley face.
Look over this website: http://www.irr.org/mit/origins.html
“I dont know how long youve been Baptist, but their history has some pretty strange behavior as well.....”
Baptist actually to vague a term. I’m a Southern Baptist of the very old style (evangelistic calvinist). I’ve been associated with the SBC since I was a preteen. I’m in my 50s now. Every group has skeletons, but not to the degree a cult does.
“One thing all churches have in common; theyre all full of saints and sinners.”
“All congregations and denominations have error, but they are not all fulled with both saints and sinners.”
I think you are confusing being “moral” with being a Christian. All true “Christians” will tend towards being moral, but not all “moral” persons are Christians. Let me quote something I heard recently....”I am a great sinner, but Jesus is a greater Savior.”
“Im not electing a preacher.”
Why didn’t you just say this upfront and drop all the other rhetoric. This is your REAL problem with Huckabee.
Besides, if you don’t trust clergy to be elected, then don’t vote for Romney, because he is the closest thing to clergy that mormons have. He is very highly placed in mormonisn, one of the reason she maintains his wealth and is a “successful” businessman. Mormons throw business to mormons at every chance...not a problem because it is their right...it just explains much about Romney’s “success” as a businessman. He isn’t that gifted.
Calm down n00bie. What did you expect, he would endorse the Northeastern liberal Romney?
You’re really one to talk, Mormon!
“Hunter is a protectionist in a free trade party.”
-
Republicans like to think it is Bill Clinton who sold us out to China. And of course, that’s true.
However when I see people like Duncan Hunter abandoned by practically the entire “conservative” establishment it makes me wonder, which American political party, China really owns...
Just so you know, Tony Snow is a Freeper and would post anything important as this.
Ask Duncan to, with an explanation for his endorsement.
We’re here round the clock.
Nobody better be tarnishing Duncan Hunter's integrity here.
If you are posting a web site, post it. If you didn’t make it through 11th grade team sports, don’t post it.
Crickets? From a newbie talking bigger than his britches? Whoda thunk?
My bad! Your post was fine and I am wrong. Sorry.
.
Excellent!
CALLER: I believe it 100%. And, you know what? The fact that the media doesn’t want to follow Romney is the very reason why I want to follow him! Who cares if they approve?
RUSH: Well, you know, this is one thing the Drive-Bys are not going to learn, they will not learn. They’re going to do everything they can to try to shape your opinion without realizing they are driving you the opposite direction they want you to go. It’s a fascinating question, these people that say that they aren’t going to vote if Huckabee or McCain get the nomination. Now, we haven’t discussed this, because the time hasn’t really been right, but lurking out there is the mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg. I think I mentioned this one time. I play golf at certain places in the Northeast, or I play golf at a place down here where there are a lot of members who summer from the Northeast. And they love the guy.
These are Republicans. “What do you think about Bloomberg?” They see Bloomberg — these guys are all business types — they see Bloomberg and the Bloomberg Network and his 13-billion-dollar wealth, they see somebody that’s cool. “The guy has that much business savvy.” Anyway, he’s lurking out there as a potential third-party candidate. He’s out there doing polls to find out if this person is a Democrat nominee, if this person is the Republican nominee, do I get in? And I’ll guarantee you, if Huckabee is our nominee, he gets in. He’s going to realize that there are a whole lot more Republican votes he might be able to get if Huckabee is the nominee. McCain, I don’t think he’d step on. Then the question becomes, if a guy like Bloomberg gets in, does he hurt Hillary or the Republican more? There’s no consensus on that.
Hunter might have endorsed Huck because there is such slim pick-ins' in the Republican field. There is a drag-queen, a corporate tiger who is trying to help China buy the software that runs the Pentagon, the Manchurian candidate and the Huckster.
At least he didn’t endorse Rudy or McCain. This is a take what you can get election. I guess Hunter figures Huckabee is the best he can get. It’s saddening to think that might be so.
Well, when you find some free time tomorrow or whenever, maybe you can join us asking Duncan, a freeper, to come discuss this endorsement with us instead via some un-heard of proxy.
“Yes, let’s be honest. You are a big fan of Mormons? You are in favor of theocracy (if Baptist)?”
I absolutely abhor mormonism. I am not in favor of a theocracy...only extremists are. Baptists have traditionally avoided theocracies because they believe in freedom of conscience. Also, they do not believe in a “state” church. The first “Baptist” colony in America was in Rhode Island where peole of all religious convictions were allowed to practice their beliefs without reprisal or government interference. Other colonies weren’t so open and free.
Mormanism, contrary to what many will say here, is very theocratic. One of the things that kept Utah from being a state sooner was the issue of not allowing their “prophet, seer, and revelator” to be the state’s governor and wanting mormonism as the state religion. Joseph Smith, mormonism’s founder, established a mormon theocracy in Navoo with him at the head and made himself a “Lieutenant General” (arrogant rank for that time) in his private militia called the Navoo legion. This guy started scaring the locals with his theocracy, adulteries, and suppression of free speech (destroy an anti-mormon newspaper). If you free “theocracies” then you need to fear a mormon in high office.
It is time for me to say goodnight.
“Reagan was a big fan of Mormons.”
Nancy Reagan was into astrology. The Reagan’s were moral people, but not necessarily Christian. Boy is that going to get me flamed.
You are beneath contempt.
