no, you’re thinking black metal. the corpse-like face painting? black trenchcoats in summer? that’s black metal.
piercings? look more to punk. tattoos? that’s most gen x/y groups except religious right.

but if you’re wanting to base attire as “look at me attitude” then i’m gonna say men in power suits are no different. that’s a HUGE “look at me” attitude. sceaming, “look, i look like i have money, i want to look classy, i want to be noticed for how classy i am.”

what’s the difference between goth and emo?

Bauhaus, nihilism and black eye-liner vs. Bright Eyes, self-loathing and superficial self-mutilation. Otherwise, there's not much difference. Both appeal to attention-starved, dispossessed kids looking for an easy, ready-made identity to latch onto.

“what’s the difference between goth and emo?”

According to my kiddies, bot of whom went through the “goth” phase, “Emo kids cry a lot, goth kids make them cry.”

>>What do people like this do for a living.....computer programmers maybe? Perhaps accountants....yes, I’m sure it is something like that.<<

Without facial piercings or extreme visible tattoos they could do a lot of different things. When he lived in Atlanta, Rupaul sold Menswear at Rich’s (Now Macy’s). I assume he didn’t wear a dress at work.

Besides she’s 19 - likely a student. And cute.

They can have whatever kind of relationship they choose and I don’t see where its the government’s or a bus driver’s business.

But he looks awfully healthy to be on welfare.

Yes, but black face painting AND trenchcoats (an/or vampire-like cloaks) AND piercings AND tattoos... Now THAT’S Goth!

It’s like you’re arguing a fish isn’t a fish (scales? that’s reptiles. Swims? That’s whales. Soft eggs? That’s arthropods. Limbless? That’s worms.)

If they ended up together,,he beat the hell out of her multiple times and one of them has ended up dead.

Classic possessive behavior.

Actually a lot of the strange dress, behavior, piercings et al could be done away with simply by having them pay their own way.

No fathership buying the tats and for sure no gubment paying for it.

I guarantee a kid making the choice between eating and a tat is gonna choose food...Especially if the cost of the tat is a months rations.

Hunger is a wonderful motivator for getting off your ashcan and doing something useful.

Against all odds, I love that movie. Probably because it really highlights the buffoonery of many in rock/popular music. They couldn’t make that movie about today’s “artists”, too many are buffoons from the get-go, no translation required. (Except maybe the ones like the rapper who wanted to beat up Weird Al for spoofing his stupid song—”Amish Paradise” or something. He was just jealous because Al’s version was better, LOL)

You’ve got to see that movie. I generally won’t watch anything newer than the 1950’s, but this was hilarious. I loved the band “YES”, and it was a spoof on them, amongst others-kind of a composite of different bands being spoofed.

I’m not decrying them, I’m making fun of them. If anyone thinks that they’re going to walk around looking like extras from a Dracula B-flick, with a leash on the woman, and not have some fun poked at them, then they’re too “emo” to live on Planet Earth. They weren’t born dressed like that, they chose to dress like that.

My neice has decided she’s emo. It’s really quite pathetic. Such the drama. whiiiiiiiiiiiiiners

Told me about her friend whose father abused her. Had my sympathy too, until I found out she (and my not-so-bright sister-in-law) considered the fact that he wouldn’t buy her a car to be abuse. sheesh.

Weird Al's versions of songs are often better than the originals.
