(WASHINGTON) Thousands of abortion opponents marched from the National Mall to the Supreme Court on Tuesday in their annual remembrance of the court's Roe v. Wade decision.
A smaller crowd of several dozen abortion-rights supporters held their own rally later, marking the 35th anniversary of the landmark Supreme Court ruling that established the nationwide right to abortion.
Supreme Court police reported no problems or arrests. Sisters Erin Gordon, 31, and Molly Flaherty, 21, recalled going to the annual march known as the "March for Life" with their parents when they were growing up on New York's Long Island.
Gordon, who now lives in Richmond, Va., said she enjoyed the feeling of unity at the march. "You really see that the abortion laws in the United States really don't reflect the heart of America," she said.
More than a half-dozen lawmakers spoke at a two-hour rally on the Mall before the march.
As abortion-rights demonstrators gathered in the evening, another group of abortion opponents listened to statements from women who said they have come to regret their abortions.
In addition to more typical "Defend life" and "Stop abortion" signs, some in the crowd held banners in support of Texas Rep. Ron Paul, a long-shot candidate for the Republican presidential nomination. Paul, a libertarian with an anti-war bent, addressed the rally and spoke of his credentials as an obstetrician who has delivered 4,000 babies. "The debate over when life begins should not be a debate. Let me assure you: All life begins at conception," he said.
President Bush voiced support for those attending the event and hosted about 200 of the demonstrators in the White House's East Room for coffee and doughnuts.

LOL. I didn’t think it would be on the Washington Compost! Let’s give credit where credit is due.
Yes, the younger people have suffered under this horrific slaughter. Many realize that 1/3 of them are missing. Please click on http://www.myspace.com/emmettgrayson and give a listen to the song which will come up automatically. I have been surprised at the response to it among younger people.
And then there were these beautiful souls ....
Well, you have been looking in the wrong places :-)
You should definitely link to the massive coverage provided by Thomas Peters at American Papist .
I think a lot of them are brought up short when they realize they had a 1 in 3 chance of being brutally murdered in their mother's womb.

How many other pro life presidential candidates took the time to address the marchers? People complaining about the lack of coverage of the pro life march don't seem to mind the lack of coverage for the true pro life candidate. If the "top tier" candidates who claim to be pro life were all there, maybe the march would have gotten more coverage.
Good for Ron Paul. Why weren’t all the pro-life candidates there?
Take a good look at the signs that say Defend Life. There is a familiar logo on them.
The DC authorities don't give an official estimate of any crowd, and few media outlets are willing to go out on a limb on their own. Crowd estimates never make anyone happy, and rarely make anyone happy.

Someone wake me up when anyone remaining in the rest of the field makes such a statement.
Hey!
They regularly publish the organizers’ estimates, with a disclaimer that it’s unofficial. At least when the organizer is an anti-war outfit like A.N.S.W.E.R.
Several RTL groups estimated the attendance to be around 200,000. Their estimates didn’t get a mention anywhere in the mainstream press.

Well said. They're all running to the mythical 'center' where the murder of the unborn is thought to be unfortunate, but acceptable.
I know. I like Duncan Hunter. I supported him before I knew about Ron Paul. I think he would have been a better president than any of the so called "top tier" presidential candidates.
Their numbers are kinda small. I wonder if it has anything to do with those they aborted? Blackbird.
