Thank you! :-)
Who is Ringo?
Who is Regis?
Who is Kelly?
For those who don’t know, Dave Stewart was the other half of the duo “Eurythmics” with Annie Lennox, a great 80s combo. Not the World Series MVP baseball player from 1989.
Without knowing anything about Ringo’s song he was playing, I’m wondering if he wrote it or if it also belongs to another songwriter or writers.
That “two-minute” excerpting struck a chord with me, because we used to have to conform to a 2-minute excerpt for broadcasts if we wanted to waive the long and involved legal entanglements figuring up the correct royalty payments according to the old ASCAP or BMI requirements.
On the other side of the ocin, I also used to write licensing agreements in the same vein, limiting performances to two minutes or less.
What I’m wondering is if this is something having to do with sympathizing with the Hollywood writers guild strike, by just allowing the minimum performance - Ringo could play his music, but just for a short time, the fees would be paid under their blanket license and that would be that.
That way they supported the strike, paid some writers’ royalties, let Ringo play and still looked like good guys. Just a guess.

(Sorry, you beat me to the best reply)
Having said that, I can’t fault him too much. I’m still smarting over FOX cutting “Hey Jude” short during a McCartney telecast. What else did FOX have to show at the time, “Herman’s Head?”
Ringo co-wrote the song with Dave Stewart (ex-Eurythmics).
Thanks - I thought that was probably the case and if so, they would’ve waived the requirement. *oh, well - it was just a thought*
