And who but the dissipated and depleted morons in the MSM could be surprised at this “turn of events”?

Other raping his 11 year old daughter, hanging out with Ahmadinajad, and singing the praises of Colombias narco-terrorist FARC he’s an ok guy.

He is rock solid on abortion. Even if the mothers life is in danger, Nicaraguan doctors are required to let the mother die rather than abort.

Well...some of us did the job back in the '80's. Somebody else's turn this time.

Show us one proven case where abortion was ever necessary to "save" the life of the mother.
Well?

Once a commie fool, always a commie fool. Nicaraguans must be extremely gullible people to vote that tool in.

I too was a Contra supporter!
This makes me wonder if all the time we spent on this was a waste but then I realize it's an ongoing illness which needs constant treatment.
Back then Managua became a place for R & R for world terrorists. It's even more important today for this NOT to happen again.

You don't think ectopic pregnancy threatens the life of the mother?

Oh, my - how to explain such a creature as Daniel Ortega? He is, first and foremost, a media darling, an international celebrity whose political power stems to a very great degree from anti-
Yanqui stridency. In that sense he is a predecessor to Huey Chavez. A choice between helping his country and maintaining his image would be and has been a difficult one for him. He is in no sense a patriot unless patriotism may be expanded into a grasping eagerness to be a part of an international ruling elite. He'd make a dandy UN representative.
He's in this for whatever he can get out of Huey and the Iranians because he won't have to give it back and it will enhance his populist image. The best advice I could give him in their regard is not to sit on the checks. I get the sense that he was dismayed by Chavez's loss in the Venezuelan referendum and that some, at least, of his willingness to loosen up a little is, as the author suggests, an appreciation that anti-U.S. populism is no longer an automatic ticket to success, especially not if the closest exemplar is a pumped-up, drugged-up, bombastic clown with his own taste for expansionism. Ask the Colombians.

Reread my post.
Your answering my inquiry with a rhetorical question does not prove anything.

Not according to Emmitt Smith. A leopard can only change his stripes.

You it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to radically improve the plight of Nicaraguans. Clean up corruption, improve rule of law, remove obstacles to the markets.
Nicaragua is shockingly poor even compared to its neighbors. And the reason is the government, people's revolution my foot.

I never bought the 'oh, but he's changed' crap the media tried to snow us with - Ortega was a communist, is a communist and will always be a communist, no matter WHAT he says in public.
I can't believe people were so stupid as to believe the media's propaganda about this guy.
