Some are misconstruing Mitt Romney’s position, that he supports Congressional mandates because that is the approach used in Massachusetts. He does not. He has been explicit in proposing a federalist approach that let’s states purspue reform and the federal govt loosens regulations in ways to allow better market-oriented reforms to go forward.
The Romney Vision: Health Care Reform Goals
First, Instituting Reforms That Make Private Health Insurance Affordable. More Americans need access to quality, private health insurance.
Second, Providing Access To Quality Health Insurance For Every American.
Third, Enhancing The Portability Of Private Health Insurance.
Finally, Slowing The Rate Of Inflation In Health Care Spending.
Linking Goals With Action Steps: The Federalist Approach
Governor Romney’s Approach To Health Care Reform Is One That Values The States As Laboratories Of Innovation And Beacons Of Creativity.
The Romney Plan: Six Action Steps

Mitt Romney is for mandates on health care, and the ongoing health care plan in Massachusetts is proof of this! Also, while Mitt has done some good things while Governor of Massachusetts, including not raising taxes, has has also done plenty of bad things like fail to increase “Republicanism” throughout Massachusetts while also making fun of Massachusetts politics whenever he campaigned outside of Massachusetts. People in Massachusetts elected Mitt Romney in 2002 to truly become a full-time Governor of Massachusetts for the next four years and not so Mitt could be the Governor of Massachusetts for just two years “and some change” and then have Mitt start campaigning all over the U.S.! Instead of just staying put in Massachusetts, Mitt decided to help other Republicans while, at the same time, making people in Massachusetts angry at him for not being a full-time Governor while also making fun of Massachusetts politics. Mitt “all of a sudden” changed his positions on some issues so that he would appeal more to the conservative base, and only the most loyal of Romney supporters will still truly continue to deny this while also providing lists on FR that also spin things Mitt’s way. BTW, how is the Massachusetts Republican Party truly better now overall ever since Mitt is no longer its Governor? Mitt is just another slick car salesman.
