Fredheads, It's Time to Support Mitt
The Jawa Report ^ | January 22, 2008 05:18 PM | Dr. Rusty Shackleford

Posted on 01/22/2008 3:22:24 PM PST by Checkers

Dear fellow Fredheads,

It's time to support Mitt Romney. Can Mitt win in a general election? I don't know. Certainly he has always had a better chance than Fred. And if the opposition is Hillary Clinton, then maybe.

McCain can beat Hillary. But McCain is, well, McCain.

To be honest, I'm not as down on McCain as most of my fellow Jawas and you, the readers. But that's just because I've been a one-issue guy since right around, oh, let me see, I think the date was 9/11/2001.

But still, McCain doesn't get that the border is tied in with our national security.

Mitt does. And he seems to get the war on political Islam.

Sure, Rudy also seems to get both, but it's probably too little too late for him.

I'm hearing some oddball theory that a lot of Fredheads are natural Huckabee supporters. That's insane. Like, certifiably insane.

It's built on the presumption that the evangelical supporters of Thompson are in the same boat as the evangelical supporters of Huckabee. I got news for Tom Edsell: they aint the same animal. Sure, they may have the same funny accent, and so I'm guessing that to an outsider like Edsell the presumption is that they must be the same species. But they're not.

At least Romney says the right things now. Voting for him won’t destroy the pro-life cause in the party even if he stabs us in the back after he is elected. Giuliani’s election will marginalize pro-life for a long time.

The loss of the last conservative in the race is a bitter pill and we will suffer the cost in the years to come.

I’ll bet a lot of other conservatives here feel the same way.

Sorry, but in my opinion, and the opinion of people I trust, he is a conservative. At the very least, he is running a campaign of conservative values and principles.

But you don’t have to agree with me about him being a conservative, so long as he is a choice.

You are mistaken.

I believe that you are the one in the wrong.

“They shouldn’t. That’s why we need LESS regulation, not more like Romney wants.”

Romney does not support more regulation.

Mormons aren’t Christians as they have a heterodox belief system, but they are generally some of the finest folks you would want to meet. Huckabee is a Christian, but wrong on a lot of issues. McCain and Rudy are nominal at best, and Rudy would never have my vote.

So, it appears Mitt’s my man, unless something bad comes out concerning his stance on the issues.

“If it makes you feel any better, you’ll get Romney anyway, even if you lose the general election. He’s our John Kerry.”

Makes sense, they’re both from MA, they both flip flop and neither of them are conservative.

I think we can safely assume that the morons will just stay home and not affect the outcome of the election

I wish that were true, but they will come out and vote 'Rat.

Mitt is a conservative.

Some of these bitter-enders need to go outside and take a deep breath.

Stopping McCain is priority one!

Lets see, the negatives on Mitt Romney is 48-52%. Yup, that’ll work...

“Making it a requirement for people to buy health insurance in a regulation.”

Mitt has not proposed that on a Federal level.

I learned 2 things from supporting Romney for MA Gov. 1) I should never have trusted him. 2) I would never do it again.

For the record we were promised conservative judges too, what he appointed were several real leftwing wacko’s, and a leader of an activist homosexual organization.

No thank you.

Here here. Whereby I spent 3-4 months supporting Fred, I hereby transfer that support to the only conservative left, Mitt Romney. A fine man.
