Miscontrued statements, but you can believe them if you like. Fred never lusted after the Presidency. He didn’t need the office to fulfull some lifelong personal ambition, nor for any personal aggrandisement. He truly thought he had something to offer the country in his conservative, issues oriented campaign. Unfortunately, though conservatives liked to SAY that’s what they wanted in a Presidential candidate, when push came to shove, most didn’t vote for him. Most aggravating was that the problems they had with him weren’t with his IDEAS, it was because of his LOOKS! So sad.
My problems with Fred weren't with his IDEAS (some of which I liked, and I certainly liked his "southern gentlemen" approach to politics) or his LOOKS (Fred's nothing compared to Mick Jagger or Keith Richards, and yet those two shriveled corpses can still attract attention).
My problem was with Fred's ADRENAL GLANDS. By the end, he'd proved that whatever vision he (might have) had for the country, he lacked the verve to fight for it.
