The acting thing never really kicked in for him, did it? I don’t know why, but he never used his greatest strength on the campaign trail. And it showed. Boy, howdy, did it show.

Must have been the writers strike.

So, if you and the other Romney bashers on this forum support McCain, why not say so?

I will happily stick around and bash them both (actually bash them all). It is equal opportunity bashing from here on in.

Ronald Reagan was not a fan of George H.W. Bush either. Bush had called Reagan’s supply side policies “voodoo economics” during the primary campaign, yet when it came time to choose a running mate who could bring in votes, Reagan selected Bush.

Which was one of the few strategic political errors that Reagan made in his career.

The fact is, Reagan could have won with almost ANYbody as his running mate, because America was so sick of Jimmah, the only way that those 44 States would NOT have voted for Reagan would have been if he had chosen Gus Hall of the CPUSA, and even then it would have been close, lol

If Romney really wanted to court Fred supporters, he would issue a statement within the next few hours praising Thompson for his consistent, conservative values, and call him a good man who put country before self during his run.

I think that would help me. I am really sad and if one of the other candidates would notice and praise Fred, not in a written statement, but face in front of the camera, it would mean a lot to THIS Thompson supporter.

If it boils down to McCain and Romney I’ll be hard pressed to find a reason to bother voting. I don’t see either one being any better than Hillary.

Either one is better than Hilliary, but Romney is by far better than McCain.

I'm really getting tired of people threatening not to vote. Until Reagan's second term I had voted for the lesser of two evils in every election (I didn't know Reagan would be such a good pres until after he was in office a while). I only knew that we needed to keep the Rats out, so I held my nose and pulled the lever. A non-vote for the Republican candidate (whoever it may be) is the same as half a vote for the Democrat.

Thanks for the ping. I’ve seen the fred dropout threads for today, but I don’t want to dance on the grave of the only other conservative candidacy in the race. This has been the worst week.

I am not endorsing Rudy on Free Republic, all I am saying was to the poster that wanted to know how to stop McCain, this is the quickest way.

If Rudy could win Florida, that almost knocks McCains momentum out going into Super Tuesday, and it would be down to a Mitt vs Rudy race. But if McCain beats Rudy in Florida, that propels him into the front runner status with those big states favoring him. I think the only way to get McCain from being the nominee is to take him out in Florida.

Mitt fans will say he should win Florida, and that might be true, but then that still leaves him vs McCain, and McCain has much more strength than Rudy does right now. So if Mitt fans want an easier opponent, sooner, get rid of McCain now, don't wait for later, and hope he fades, because he won't.

Having said that, if Rudy is out of the race by the time I vote, I will probably vote for McCain.

It is in-fighting that makes a President Hilary possible.

“Since Duncan Hunter and Fred Thompson have dropped out of the race, the only reason for continuing to bash Romney on this forum is to support McCain, his closest rival.

So, if you and the other Romney bashers on this forum support McCain, why not say so?”

Do you have any idea what a conservative believer or lives ???

A conservative who embraces RINO/liberal views on issues is no longer a conservative...

Right now EVERY Republican candidate left is equal to Hillary...

“No, thanks. I’ll pass on 4 or 8 or 12 years under destructive regimes. We got here by compromising on our beliefs.”

Perfectly stated, I am all out of benefit of the doubt, I refuse to compromise my principles. The problem we have a political party is a true lack of leadership, we have fallen for the empty promises of government to the extent that we consider this moderation with anything BUT disdain.

If Thompson’s supporters go to Romney, he will win Florida easily.
