Carl Cameron says it'll become offical sometime later this week.

Oh well, we're doomed. Let's hope it'll be minimal damage until 2012.

* McCain: Oddly enough, the most conservative (viable) candidate remaining, but when he goes off the reservation, he REALLY goes off

The words 'McCain' and 'conservative' shouldn't even be near each other. He should be running as a Dem.

-—”God we need a modern Reagan or Goldwater!”

You may not see it yet, but ROMNEY is the NEW REAGAN.

I’m convinced his popularity will soon become an avalance. He’s got Reagan’s charisma, he’s articulate, he’s a happy person with a good sense of humor that appeals to a broad range of people.

People don’t want a depressed candidate like Hitlery, McCain, and to some extent, Rudy.

Romney has it all.

THANK YOU FRED. Thank you for giving us hope that somewhere in the ranks of the GOP that there are still a few thourbred Republicans left. Having you in the White House would of been like having Davy Crockett back in Washington. You are a a no-nonsense leader who doesn’t wait for pollsters but follows the maxim: “Be sure you are right and then go ahead”.” God-Speed my friend and it was an honor to be a part of the Vets For Fred.

I think the States that had early Primaries, and allowed Independents to vote for a Republican nominee are to blame for this.
I agree! Down with the stupid Iowa/NH monopoly on who gets to run as a Republican. It sucks! End that stupid system and we have hope for nominating good people in the future.

Oh hell, the Romney stuff started weeks ago. They’ve just pulled in more cheerleaders to FR.

We welcome your thoughts in considering Romney after you have come to acceptance of the unpleasant news.

Forget it bub. Anyone that tried to out-liberal Ted Kennedy is someone that conservatives can't trust. Someone who used Boston as a footstool to run for President. Someone who tried to push universal healthcare.

Romney will turn off the evangelicals as well.

No, he just overestimated his “drawing” power. I’m afraid he is a little spoiled since he stated that he has always been successful without trying too hard. Not so in a presidential election I’m afraid.

Interesting. All the hate from conservatives directed toward George Bush because he never jumped when they said he should jump. They were always withdrawing their support. Ya da...ya da....ya da.

So, their actions have led us to this point. Now they will have no conservatism at all. Guess they will still withdraw any support waiting for the perfect candidate.

See what happens when you do not get behind all conservative gains - no matter if perfect or not? You end up with nothing.

Which is what we have. Where oh where is their perfect conservative candidate that will take us all back to 150 years ago? Where is the man that will throw out the department of education, where is the man that will clear up the immigration issue. Where is the man that will fight all enemies. Where is the man caring nothing for politics and political manuervering but who jumps when they say jump.

It will be interesting to hear them trash a democrat president for a change instead of a man trying his best to lead this nation with absolutely everyone against him as well as the enemy.

Gone are the “good ole days” under George W. Bush.

At this point, I’d just as soon vote for Paul as anyone else. At least we’d have ‘change’ and it would be fun to watch.

All Fred accomplished was to ruin the chances of a Duncan Hunter and give the public time to forget McCAin Amnesty, and I don’t believe it was an accident. Fred proved one thing. He was never in this race to win, so why was he there?

I’m a Fred supporters, but the amount of “I’m taking my toys and going home” coming from some Fred supporters are getting too much.

Rather than having a temper tantrum about how much the GOP voters suck. I think it would behoove us to take a critical look at the candidate. Fred obviously was not a great campaigner, heck, if he can’t beat McCain among Republicans. Why should we think he’d be a slam dunk against the Democratic candidate? Other than just our wishful thinking. Or were we just setting ourselves up for a “the American voters suck tantrum”.

Campaigns are like a business, if you don’t get votes, it’s not because the customers suck, it’s either because your product wasn’t that great, or you didn’t do a good job selling your product. This blame the consumer stuff is lame.

Fred is out. I’m moving on to the next most conservative candidate. Politics is about compromise, not about getting everything you want.

In my opinion, so take it for what it is worth, if you really want McCain out, the best way to do that is have Rudy win Florida. They share many of the same voters, so it would put a huge skid on McCains traction to lose in Florida. If Mitt wins, I don't think it necessarily puts McCain out, only if Rudy beats him. So in reality the choice would be Mitt vs Rudy or Mitt vs McCain. And the only way for Rudy to stay in over McCain is a Florida victory. I don't think both of them can remain viable after Florida.

So if you really want McCain out, your best is to vote Rudy in Florida. Or at least make sure he has a better showing than McCain. Right now McCain is actually the one leading the big states, but that could change back on a dime if he loses momentum in Florida.

Then say hello to President Hillary.

Did 1992, and 2006 teach you NOTHING???

All he did was attack other candidates. I heard nothing from him.

He didn't attack McLame enough. I'm glad he's out. I never trusted him and I'm sure he'll be on McLame's bandwagon in a matter of days.

McDole vs Clinton. It’s 1996 again. Sigh!

Remember, Bob Dole lead Bill Clinton in the polls all through the Summer of 1996. Backing McCain because he is ahead in some meaningless poll nine months before the election is the height of stupidity.

It may be John McCain's turn, but that does not mean I will vote for the man.

Duncan Hunter is still in the mix.

Interesting you make that statement. I contacted the Secretary of State office in my state to find out if Duncan Hunter will remain on the ballot for the February 5th primary. I was told any candidate who was on the ballot as of mid December is there for the primary. I will vote for him. It may get interesting if that is true for other states and Duncan Hunter supporters still vote for him. A brokered convention will still make his nomination a possibility.

BINGO - we cannot forget nor forgive McCain-Kennedy amnesty, nor can we accept McCain-Lieberman globaloney CO2 regulations, nor can we accept his many attacks on fellow Republicans and conservatives, from his comparing Falwell to Farrakhan to his attacks on anti-amnesty Republicans.

Even on the GWOT he’s been annoying, against Gitmo and siding with Bush critics on treatment of terrorists, etc.

Proamnesty-antiBushtaxcuts-proCO2caps-CFR-RINO John McCain delenda est!

All this talk about ‘holding noses’, it is time to suck it up and realize that someone has to be the CIC of our Armed Forces. Right now we need to make sure it isn’t HilldogOsamaEdwards or our own cheese eating surrender monkey.

Romney, Huckabee, Rudy, or McCain would still be better for our troops than any of the neoMarxists or neoHippies.

we must all work together to stop the advance of Democrat Republican Corruption and Socialism...

There is no compromise. The compromise is the Reagan Coaliton candidate. Without that, nothing... as it should be.

You may keep your RINOs. I will come back to the party ONLY if the Baker "Big Tent" is folded up and thrown away, and the party returns to Reagan Republicanism.
