All that crap Ron Paul spews about how our founding fathers not wanting to fight our battles in the enemy’s neighborhood is historically and histerically inaccurate as the first war we fought as an independent nation was against arab terrorists (1790-1825) and Jefferson built our Navy for just that purpose.

Where did you get the idea that Ron Paul is against fighting in the enemies neighborhood?

What he is saying is that we ought not to be involved in everyone's neighborhood and just mind our own business.

If there is a war, we would ofcourse, take it to the enemy.

To me the difference is that Romney will at least pander to conservatives even if he isn’t sincere about being a conservative. McCain won’t even listen to us. So of the 2 I prefer the candidate that will at least listen to conservatives.

BINGO!

That is the essential difference between the two men, McCain will not listen to anyone and still thinks he is right about that amnesty bill.

Romney at least listen to other views and moderate them to be accepted by the GOP base.

And I say this a Ron Paul supporter, not a Romney one.

And I have a sneaking suspicion our “feelings” are not unfounded.

Don’t give up though, and we have local and state elections don’t forget! Thankfully, we CAN fight!

This is true. Although Romney is at best a "Johnnie-come-lately" conservative, he doesn't hate us. McCain will antagonize everyone in record time if he's elected.

Ron Paul??? Another NEVER -- no Fred Thompson supporter I know would EVER vote for an anti-war idiot.

That is funny, because according to at least one article I had read Thompson was being courted to get us out of Iraq.

When would you consider the Iraq war actually over?

Yep. My plan of attack is now this (unless he withdraws before I can vote in May):

Vote for Paul. Not because I like him but in hopes that more votes his way in the primary will deflect the tide of McRombee and give us a brokered convention. In the meantime pray pray pray for a brokered convention - its our only hope. Now flame away.

“””Nobody has been hit with more lies and distortions than Mitt Romney.”””

Great post with facts.

So much angst over GOP candidates most of us didn’t expect, select or promote. Men who nevertheless have the courage to face public scrutiny, personal ridicule and outrageous lies to compete for the job from hell. Same kind of patriots as the much maligned President George Bush.

Mitt Romney, a man of decency & integrity - is answering a call to public service - with a talent for oratory that *W* does not possess. Seems like a style over substance asset - but we have seen the price paid by *W* for not presenting policy with robust rhetoric.

We humans are so superficial - but hey - you use what you have. Hellery has Bill - and we thought he was a problem.

Rudy has been campaigning in Florida for 50 days solid, according to some accounts. He really wants to win it.

He has to win it, and win it big, if he plans to stay in as a viable candidate.

We all know it hurts.

I appeal that you folks think about Romney NOT in the context of “advancing the Conservative agenda” because I know you all don’t believe he will, but rather in the context of what is his image and what is very likely, or certainly true. Uber competence.

He was valedictorian of his undergraduate school. That means he was top of the class. He simultaneously worked on and received a law degree AND an MBA from Harvard. My recall is he did both in the top 5% of his class.

I submit for your consideration that uber competence in 2009 is more important than “advancing the Conservative agenda” because, simply, a Democratic Congressional majority will allow no agenda of any kind to come from a GOP President, no matter who he is. All that can happen is dilution of the left wing agenda. A slowing of it. I submit that a strong stalwart conservative would galvanize left wing hatred and generate veto overrides from that larger majority they will have then than they have now.

A genius or near genius inclined if not powerfully rightward, then at least somewhat rightward of the Democrats will be more effective stopping that.

So that’s my case for Romney. He is rightward of McCain and smarter than McCain in the financial area, which is now looming as the biggest challenge ahead. Huckabee . . . intellectually, does not play in the same league. And Guilliani is essentially overtly pro Choice.

We welcome your thoughts in considering Romney after you have come to acceptance of the unpleasant news.

Well said, and sums up perfectly how I've felt about Romney for some time now. I was waiting until Fred dropped out before I voiced who I'm supporting, because I really didn't want to get involved in the inter-republican candidate wars that have been raging here.

I think it will be obvious to most that Romney is the best of the remaining candidates, so hopefully we can start to focus on getting him nominated and taking down whatever socialist the democrats offer up for this November. I definitely want someone of Romney's business acumen in the driver's seat if the economy starts to tank as many fear it will.

Oh well, we're doomed. Let's hope it'll be minimal damage until 2012.

With a Marxist president and a Marxist Congress full of Marxist Dimocrats and RINOcrat Socialist Republicans, what is "minimal" damage? Higher taxes, higher prices, socialized medicine, higher unemployment, your 401k plan raped of 15% of its funds by a one time Hillary taxing of all 401k's, the military once again put through what the Klinton mafia put it through in the 1990s, the military down sized, open borders, putting their arms around the Izzmo murderers, further damning of Christians, assaults on the 2d Amendment and continued gun control, etc. Is all that going to be "minimal damage?" Not picking on you but, everyone needs to understand exactly what this all means. America has turned socialist. We conservatives have become the major minority political group in American politics. Socialists and Liberals now shamelessly rule.
