Carl Cameron says it'll become offical sometime later this week.
Oh well, we're doomed. Let's hope it'll be minimal damage until 2012.
I have been sucking it up since Ronald Reagan.
I thought atleast we could push forward; but I guess not.
“Yeah, but irrelevent because neither Hunter or Thompson are electable.”
I completely disagree. I think neither of them stood a chance against the media push that started long ago for McCain, then Giuliani, then Romney, and most recently, Huckabee. Unfortunately, the media has waaaaay too much to do with who conservatives nominate.
I am positive that either man would have stood a far greater chance against the Democrat nominee than any of the spares who are left.
given our choices, I could live with that
True. Very sad, but true.
I must admit, your posts have been articulate and compelling in Governor Romney’s behalf. I also appreciate the class he showed in Carl Cameron’s interview.
However, until I can be assured that the Gov. has core conservative values as his base, I will continue to sit on the side lines and am quit at ease with being flamed for doing so.
NEW TAG LINE
That was a foolish statement.
It’s a myth to say that John McCain isn’t a flipflopper and/or is more honest than Romney, and redgirl could give you the chapter and verse on that.
With the news today about Fred, the plot thickens!
Actually, I was sorry to hear about Fred leaving the race. I enjoyed him in the debates and have watched him on the campaign trail via C-Span.
as a fredhead, i have to say, pissant, our candidates bear the lion’s share of responsibility for their poor showing. you can claim that conservatives ignored Hunter and fredheads can rail against fox news for their negative slant on Fred’s candidacy from the get-go, but at rock bottom, a losing candidate only has himself to blame. they did not attract the support necessary to propel their candidacies. THAT is their job. sitting around being a hail-fellow-well-met conservative is fine, but it doesn’t get you elected. I feel i can say this because the same applies to Fred. it is simply wrong to blame the voters for not voting for them, when it was the CANDIDATE’s job to EARN THAT VOTE.
And you my FRiend, don't think that our backs are against the wall with the looming possibility of a Clinton or Obama win?!?!?!?!?
If neither Thompson nor Hunter could win in a REPUBLICAN primary, what makes you think they would win in a general election?
(Other than the MSM tin-foil hat conspiracy.)
Writing in a name is not going to accomplish much, unless you have some money and coordination behind the effort.
There could yet arise a viable third-party candidate (not Bloomberg), due to the long period of time between the primaries and the general election.
So, there may be options yet.
I agree with all of that, but one has to work with the reality as it is, not how it ought to be. Electability depends on context, however unfavorable or ugly.
I am positive that either man would have stood a far greater chance against the Democrat nominee than any of the spares who are left.
Electability includes having the ability to get your party's nomination.
I’m a conservative and I have no problem with ANY of the remaining Republican candidates -— with the notable exception of Ground Control to Major Paul.
Suck it up guys. Next to Hillary Milhous Clinton, every one of our remaining candidates looks like George Washington, Abe Lincoln and Ronald Reagan all rolled into one.
I like your # 39 on this link, too, WOSG!
“There are some smart people here. Theyre the ones who will support Romney now.”
...or the ones who will stand by their own principles.
The last Reaganite has left the building.
I will hold my nose for no one.
My only hope is Romney/Thompson, other than that, I may be voting like Rush....
It’s my understanding that Thompson supported McCain/Feingold. I agree, Thompson will probably endorse McCain. I’m voting Huckabee all day long.
I agree Lindsay Gramnasty will be the Veep.
