Goodbye Fred By Salena Zito

MANCHESTER (NH) -- Fred Thompson spent most of caucus night in Iowa hovering between third and fourth place -- a far cry from the lofty first-place position he held in Rasmussen's poll of likely Republican caucus-goers last June.

It has been a long time since Thompson has made a compelling reason to be in this race. And it should be a very short time before he confesses a compelling reason to exit stage right.

A bystander in his own race, Thompson's political what-could-have-been slipped through his fingers long before he announced his candidacy. "The process for running for president has begun so early," says GOP political strategist Charlie Gerow, "that if you are not in the game, you are not in the game ... and Fred Thompson was never in the game."

Fred won’t be dropping out, at least not until after super tuesday, his website is still accepting donations. This article is RINO wishful thinking. Fred has plenty of money and Huckster is about to go down in flames. The next few weeks will be verrry interesting.

The campaign still accepting donations means nothing more than they will accept your money if you send it in. Hell Keyes still owes debts from 2000 and will accept a donation to that fund. Campaigns have debts to pay will solicit money until debts are cleared in some fashion.

Where are you getting info that Fred has plenty of money?... If so then why has his staff received cuts in pay? Where are the campaign ads?

Fools... Really... She can destroy the economy, ruin our military, support the most leftist judges, and we won't know about it... By we, I'm talking the "collective" we... The nation... The MSM will spin everything into a victory, she'll serve 2 terms, then the Obama era starts... Just wait until they get through with judges at all levels... The conservatives will be seen as shrill, fringe, radical, hateful, and uncaring...

Don't underestimate the power of the media... The ONLY reason we don't have even more praise of the Clintons, and in the 2nd term of a Gore presidency, is 2 self-inflicted wounds by the Clintons... 1... Monica... 2... HillaryCare...

We got VERY lucky... Don't count on that luck striking again... They're even better at the game...

Really, think about it.

How about he takes votes that would otherwise go to Huck or Romney hence letting McCain be the frontrunner? Fred certainly doesn't seem to be trying to win.

My choice in order from top to bottom are:

Thompson
Romney
Giuliani
McCain
Huckabee

I might be tempted to put Obama ahead of Huckster-bee. Heck, I'd put RON PAUL ahead of Governor Elmer Gantry. That guy might even be scarier than ol' "Billy Bent-Pecker" was 16 years ago.

Where are you getting the idea he is out of money? Its pure speculation without even a crumb of evidence.

Whatever, time will tell, likely we will hear from Fred today. If he stays in you will hear from me...LOL! And I suppose vice versa. I sent Fred money yesterday, that is how confident I am in him staying in the race.

Unless Romney announces Santorum, Thompson, Hunter, or Delay as a running mate, and does so early, then there is no way I’ll support him. Period. Case closed.

LOL. Man you people are a hoot. I’m not a fool. I know what Hillary can and will do. I’d prefer that history SHOW that she did it and not someone who is alleging himself to be a Republican.

My point exactly.... You don’t know and I don’t know. The last filing for public consumption was 10-15-07 and next one is due 1-31-08.

I hope he can stay in and we’ll know something of his plans today I guess.

“You Mittwits will stop at nothing to make fools of yourselves. But keep it up, I love the entertainment.”

It’s just a matter of time before your candidate drops out. He finished a dismal third in SC and he’s finished behind Ron Paul in amost all of the other primaries. Impressive. I’d just like to know how long you FredHeads are going to live in denial. That’s what’s been entertaining.

Ron Paul didn’t even make it far enough on my list to get crossed out.
I won’t even acknowledge an antisemitic isolationist like him as an option.
He and Ahmadinejad have too may of the same goals.

McCain recognizes that deporting 12 mil illegals isn’t
going to happen and says so. The others won’t do it either
and aren’t as honest about it.

ACU rating for FDT=86
ACU rating for McCain=84

Rumor has it that Fred will endorse McCain. If you want
someone who will not lie to your face, he’s the guy.
