For most people, having a child is a life changing experience—it is when many REALLY cross the threshold into being an adult. Its when you realize its not all just about YOU. In a sense, some of your dreams do die, but it also brings a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment most childless will never know. Too many people consider children to be a nusiance/distraction and try to fill the void in their lives by chasing $$ and stuff. I lost count of the number of high achievers I know who have opted out of the gene pool to focus on their careers. Many of those wake up in their late 40s & older to find out that they missed out on an essential part of life that all the restaurant meals, vactions, cars & mini-mansions can’t replace. In the end, children are your ticket to immortality more than any other thing you accomplish. Just my 2 cents.
