And you, of course, have polling data to support this. I remember him being the early front runner after the 94 elections.

Just my opinion, of course, but Gramm’s bid for the GOP nomination in 1996 was a spectacular failure. His campaign raised about $20 million, and he won a grand total of eight delegates - finished 5th in the Iowa caucus and bailed out before the NH primary. I have met Phil Gramm, and he has the charisma of a wet dog. Unfortunately, in our media-driven age, charisma matters. Plus, there is something about him (and Newt) that repulses many of the conservative women I know.
