This conservative can certainly articulate his displeasure with moderate Republicans. Taxes, immigration, big government, and abortion. (in no particular order. I’m equally unhappy about moderate policies in all of those areas.)
I don’t care who you support but you don’t have to come on this forum just to lob bombs. I think it is highly unlikely Fred is going to win, just as unlikely Hucklberry will go any where.
If I could ask McCain one question in a town hall meeting it would be a toss up .......

Quite likely.
I’m not taking any offense. I admit that people, far too often, root for political candidates like they root for the home team, and for the same reason. I think the “Fred Heads” are generally not in that mindset. The Hucksters, otoh, are.
This is probably as good a thread as any (since there are a lot of people on this thread who know a lot about Fred) to ask the question that is haunting my thoughts....
First let me make it clear, I have not yet decided who to vote for, I can’t seem to find a candidate I can truly believe in. But as super Tuesday draws near day by day, I am going to have to zero in on the candidate who comes the closest to fitting my criteria, I guess.
I firmly believe that enacting the Fair Tax system would go further in restoring the power that the Federal Government has taken from us, back to the people where it belongs, than any other means we can come up with short of a civil war. Huck is pushing the Fair Tax, but he is just not conservative enough otherwise for me. My question is.... do any of you know why Fred won’t support the Fair Tax?

It was big enough to keep Bush 41 from getting re-elected, and to keep Dole from winning.
No doubt there are Huckabee supporters that sanctify the man, and I find it every bit as distasteful as the “FredHeads”.
In fact, as a Huckabee supporter, I think it does more harm than good.
How are we supposed to affect primary results in Iowa, New Hampshire, or South Carolina if we don't live there?

Fred just is the only candidate who represents the principles that conservatives believe.

I’m not willing to throw in the towel on the only (yes, RangerM, the ONLY) candidate that “gets it” on what the Constitution means and how our gov’t is supposed to govern,
but, at the very least, it’s good to see the other candidates having to adopt some of the side issues that stem from Fred’s core foundational belief.
The Rush Rays will set you free. One great piece of good news from Saturday is that the Huckster has been pretty much knocked out of contention. I was more worried over that latter day Elmer Gantry than I am about McCain.
I haven't seen that with Fred. And I say that as someone who sent Fred some of my hard earned $$ right after he announced.
Just hoping it happens before he’s got a 1000 delegates.
Fred has stated multiple times that he does NOT oppose the fair tax in principle, but that he does not believe that the fair tax is a viable alternative.
Fred's position is simple - the ONLY way the fair tax can work is if the 16th? (I may hav the # wrong) is REPEALED and the IRS abolished by Consititutional amendment. Otherwise, at some point, we will end up with both an income tax and the fair tax (which will be a VAT at that point).
Fred points out that getting the 16th repealed is close to if not completely impossible, and at best would take 5-10 years to accomplish. He believes that we should do something realistic that can be enacted sooner - a FLAT Tax.
