If McCain is the nominee, I will be too busy to vote. I can pinch a loaf to honor him. If he wants one.

" And they were all punished.

They lost."

No. They had to stop trying to shove it up your ying-yang because it's an election year and most of them feared that the voters memories were all longer than yours.

Don't worry. No matter who is elected, they'll be back as soon as they get this election over with. And this time, they won't be using any vaseline.

Look bucko, you obviously support the liberal, Myth Romney. Good luck. I’m a FredHead. I won’t be supporting Giuliani, Romney, Huckabee or McCain. However, as bad as McCain is, Romney is even worse.

I think his vote against Bush’s tax cuts and his argument that “we can’t do this to our grandchildren”, etc, etc, shows he is a complete moron on economics. Did he learn nothing from the effects of the Reagan tax cuts on the economy and federal tax receipts?

The man is dangerously disconnected from reality, IMO. Pharma companies are the “bad guys”, “special interests are so evil that free political speech should be squelched” in violation of the first amendment.

He just seems to me like he needs to be on antipsychotics or something.

“How in the hell did we ever get to this point?”

I’m not exactly sure, but I have an idea that it started with the pass that conservatives gave GWB. Government spending, open borders, CFR, NCLB, and then we re-elected him. It seems to have sent a bad message to the GOP leadership. Also there were some unfortunate scandals involving conservatives and the GOP. When it was time to start thinking about a candidate for 2008, the only conservative to step forward was Hunter, and while I really liked him his odds were always pretty long. It seemed that a lot of conservatives were more afraid of the Clintons than of not having a good conservative candidate because the only thing that seemed to matter was “Who Could Beat Hillary” this meant peeling off some blue or purple states, and since those states seem to prefer liberals/moderates the GOP offered up it’s most liberal/moderate options. Then conservatives noticed that the field of contenders was unacceptable and drafted Thompson. Unfortunately Thompson started at a huge disadvantage and never gained enough traction to stop the current group of frontrunners. JMHO, but it would seem that conservatives have played a role in creating the very thing they most wanted to avoid (Hillary in 08) At the moment I would personally settle for a good candidate that I could really support and be proud to vote for, and if that candidate can beat the DEM. well that’s a major bonus, but I don’t see where conservatives gain by turning into the thing they’re against just for the “Win” Sometimes any win is the way to go, but this year didn’t have to be that. Odds were the GOP would lose the White House regardless. The show’s just been running too long. Sadly, instead of cooler heads using the downtime to re-tool and cultivate good candidates, it seems the party panicked and with no better ideas...turned hard left.
JMO though.

I'm tired of being blamed for the party's failure just by voting my conscience

I supported Thompson and gave him money, and now I'm supporting Romney, so that McCain and Huckleberry doesent get the nomination. Only Im saying is that McCain is a disaster, and you sometimes gotta pick best available.

Conservatives will sit this election out bigtime. It takes a lot of enthusiasm to get voters to the polls, but only a small amount of discouragement to keep people home.

Has anybody here studied the history of the Republican party? It hasn’t always been conservative. That sea change occurred with Goldwater, and it was his defeat in 1964 that energized conservatives to work hard enough to capture the party.

Defeat can be a healthy thing.

Neither will I. I’ve pulled the lever once to avoid a Clinton (twice actually w/Bush the elder). It still got me a Clinton. I will not vote for McCain. He has pissed me off too many times too recently.

I grudgingly pulled the lever for Bush, and was very dissatisfied with his illegal immigration stance. The war put it on the back burner, and the man is consistent, but I was and remain unhappy with this aspect of Bush.

McCain has done things to simply make me angry. I can’t stand the guy.

I, too, am a FredHead, "Bucko", but I don't see how you can think McCain is more conservative than Romney. Is there ANYTHING in Mitt's record that proves that? Anything? I didn't think so. No votes, no executive orders, no vetos, nothing. He gave lip service to the commies in his state, sure, but he did not govern as a lib.

McCain, on the other hand, has screwed conservatives over at every turn. Every chance he got, he voted against us or came up with some lefty legislation that would choke a conservative.

Mitt gave lip service to libs. McCain actually worked to further their cause.

I have not given Bush a pass on amnesty or CFR. McCain is even worse. And he appears in ill health and mentally unstable.

I am concerned about the WOT, but since the heavy work has already been done in that quarter, McNasty really has nothing much more he can add there, except to screw it up, which is a good posibility. Romney and Rudy are far more conservative than McNasty, who is closer to Hillary ideologically than either of them. By the way, you ought to change your handle since McNasty is no Reaganite and Fred will likely soon be supporting McNasty, which his stalking horse strategy was designed to do all along. BTW, I may just decide to stick it to McNasty and not vote for him out of spite, and I think you’ll see the real hypocrite the next time you look into a mirror. Rush said he would support Rudy or Mitt if either is nominated, ditto for Mark Levin, as well as Rusty Humphrey and Mike Gallagher. I guess they are lib-lovers, too, or is your conservatism somehow, superior to theirs?

“It’s real simple.

If these so called Republican voters want McCain then they will in short order have either Clinton or Obama as president.”

That, succinctly, is exactly how I see it.

McCain—another GLOBALIST politician, like Hillary and Obama. And in the pocket of the Albanian mafia-front lobby as well.

Bad news!!!!

I think so. ROMNEYCARE! Can you say nationalized healthcare, can you say socialized medicine. And its Myth, not Mitt!

Like I said, they all suck --- minus Fred.
