See my post 13. I think that there is a possibility...but I would much rather see Thompson as the candidate...and would even rather see him (Thompson) teamed up with Romney.

McCain is definitely NOT conservtive...but I would hold my nose and vote for him over Hillary or any of the DNC if it came down to it and him having Thompson on the ticket would improve the ticket.

I just pray it doesn't come down to that...IMHO, sad day for America if it does.

but, if FDT does drop out, and our 5 choices are Romney, Rudy, McCain, Huck, or Dems... don’t you agree that we should support Romney if only to stop the others?

The primaries are where you vote FOR a candidate. The General Election is almost always where you vote AGAINST a candidate - the greater of 2 evils. IMHO, any of the Dems is a bigger evil than any of the RINOs left if FDT drops out, so I will pull the lever for whoever has an "R" after his name this November. I learned my lesson in '92. Really, who wants Hillary naming Supreme Court Justices? Giving orders to the military? Naming Schumer as AG? How on Earth does standing by and letting THAT happen help our cause?

Duncan Hunter > Romney and NEVER McCain:

McCain-Feingold
Gang of 14
Kerry/McCain?

the guy doesn’t represent me, a conservative, in any way. And I think he would lose big-time.

Mr. JRob- if Fred withdraws and supports McCain (which I'd bet my last dollar on), I sure hope you'd re-consider supporting Romney... The stakes (Dems in power) are way too great.

Your comments about Romney are inaccurate. He is NOT pro-abortion, he is NOT pro RoevWade(hasn't been for several years), is strong on illegals... Doesn't support gay marriage...

He and Rudy are the ONLY ones that are speaking to conservatives and vowing to run as conservatives. THe other 2 hate us, and it will only get worse...

Again, I hope you re-consider...

They already are. That's the real purpose for this thread. Checkers thinks that Fred should get out of the race for Romney. I cannot believe that any conservative would be encouraging the last conservative in the race to leave for a CINO.

Why should we hurry him off the train? Because it has not been an easy win? Who said our struggle against liberalism would be easy?

If we are not willing to fight for conservatism here, what is our purpose?

“Paul is a major candidate? hahahahahahaha”

He beat everyone but Mittens in Nevada.

Raised more money than any other GOP candidate.

He’s placed above Fred in every primary but one.

Fred is a major candidate?

“It seems this is now FRedrepublic.”

Not for long.

Soon it will be FRinoRepublic, once a RINO wins the nomination - all their sins will be forgotten.

“Interesting that they refer to Giuliani as a “major candidate” while omitting Ron Paul, who is doing better than Giuliani is! Of course, we can debate all day whether or not Paul is a conservative but the fact stands that as of this moment he is still a Republican contender and is doing better than most people expected him to.”

Since Paul wasn’t in the poll, I voted for Rudy, even though I’d never vote for him in real life. I won’t be voting for the others either, so consider my vote for Rudy a protest vote.

Although Morman politicians generally support local control, small government and property rights, I am not so sure about Romney. It concerns me that so far he has bought the election. I am concerned when personal wealth and the ability to purchase exposure with it seems to be the main determinent in a successful race.

Nevertheless, I would never vote for Guilliani, Huckabee or McCain. I hope Fred stays in the game We need to keep conservatives in the Republican game and give voters a refuge when they eventually run from the other candidates.
