I FReeped McCain at his Arizona vacation home when he invited Daschle for the weekend. My hand-made sign, noted by the NYT, said “McBorg Has Been Assimilated”. I still believe that.

But if he’s the nominee I’ll vote for him. Reason? The Supreme Court vacancies. The lesser of two evils ... Lawd, forgive me.

Post #41 ... doesn’t the Supreme Court matter? Presidents come and go.

Why is it that NO one brings up the fact that when McCain was released from the north Vietnamese—his fellow captives petitioned for his court martial on charges he gave information to his captives willingly?? Also he blocked an investigation of POWs being sent to russia for medical experiments.—I have had it with the so called Republican party they bitched and moaned that Bush has not been conservative enough and look for the second coming of Reagan then abandon any truly Conservative candidates. If the choice is McCain or Huckabee—then the country deserves what it gets.

Every election, it is said, "This will be the most important election in history."

Well, depending on the outcome, this one will be.

There is a good chance that, depending on which Republican is nominated, this nation will cease to exist as we know it today.

Socialism is an election cycle away.

Rest assured that it will be brought up if McCain is the nominee! But he will NOT be the nominee. Remember the first closed primary state is my state, Florida. McCain and Huckabee will fade fast here and be out of the race soon. I also do not think Guiliani has Florida locked up. I will stand with Fred through Super Tuesday and expect another surge for Fred following this coming Thursday debate! It is not over yet! Hang in and don’t let the MSM get you down. Notice they don’t want to talk about Fred coming in third in South Carolina, and just talk about when he might get out of the race. What race has Guiliani come in 1st,2nd, or 3rd yet? But the MSM says Guiliani might win Florida. I do not believe it. GO FRED!

Honestly? I, for one, am not willing to go down that road. For a practical reason- it will backfire. We are divided ENOUGH right now- if people seriously go after him on the POW issue- all hell will break loose, and the ones attacking him will be on the losing side. We need to focus on what it means to be conservative.

However- I’m concerned about some other aspects of McCain- completely unrelated to his voting record and lack of conservative credentials. His temperament. I listened to his speech last night after the win and was struck by his tone. While not new- he speaks in a sing-song manner, sounding as though he’s speaking to elementary school students. He sounds condescending- even in victory. He seems jittery and...just not stable. It disturbs me. When I listen to McCain I have the sense he could lose it- at any second. I don’t hear that in any other candidate on either side.

“The only “Republican” that scares me more than McPain is Huck.”

I agree - Huckabee would be even worse than McCain. And Paul - who may not even be a true Republican - is the very worst of all.

Our early primary system is so screwed up that it brings us to Super Tuesday with front runners who are popular with independents and not a majority of the Republican base.

Only the primaries that allow only Republicans to vote for Republicans should be considered when we pick a candidate.

The President simply makes Supreme Court Justice nominations. It’s the Senate which confirms.

Can you just imagine a McCain, compromise nominee?

If Fred surrenders, I won’t waste my time voting.

[McCain does not deserve a single conservative Republican vote.]

We know Hillary would be a disaster and could thus be opposed in office. McCain would carry the RINOs with him to destroy the party.

What got us 8 years of Clinton was two “moderate” Republican nominee’s.

Why would the result be different now?

Listen to you people...."I won't waste my time voting"."I won't vote for McCain not even against Hillary"

WTF is the matter with all of you? Yeah, just hand our country over to the socialists. Nice job. Way to fight for what's right

If you don't vote, you don't earn the right to bitch about the outcome.

Quite freak'n bitch'n and DO something about it.

MSM is going the divide and conquer way.....each few weeks a "new" candidate" gets all the attention and wins a state....the fawned over Ron Paul, then Huckabee, now McCain....

if we Pubs can't form a consensus, the MSM will portray us, as they are already and WANT to portray us, as people that can't find a good candidate....

Rudy is no where to be seen...Fred who is the BEST candidate can not generate any air time ....Romney is present only because of his money, but I am sure the MSM will be happy to have him go up agaisnt the Hildebeast....watch for the attacks then....

this is all shameful .....but they are getting away with it....

Fox IMO is the worse...they can t do too much for Hitlery.....didn't they use to be called "conservative"...we report..you decide?

If McCain or Huck win the nomination I see bad things for the GOP in the coming elections. Neither one does much for the base and the cry of “Hillary will be President” isn’t much of a campaign slogan. It didn’t work with Pelosi and it won’t work here. The only way Republicans win is if the base is willing to crawl on broken glass to support and vote, don’t see that happening with either one.
This is going to be a hard year for the GOP even with a top flight nominee and without one it will be a blood bath.

I believe this election is the only chance real conservatives have to turn things around and kick RINO’s out for good! Like Mark Levin has said, and Rush too, it is time we real conservatives stood up and fought for our conservative principles. The only candidate to do that is Fred Thompson. Let’s not quit and get down in spirit. This race is not over by any means! And Florida is the first closed primary state! No liberals or independents can vote on the Republican side to help McCain or Huckabee. The support is not here for McCain and Huckabee and I do not think Giuliani has it locked up in Florida. In all the calls I have made in the last three days, no one mentioned any candidate’s name, and when I talked about Fred I have gotten great interest. Most people I spoke with have not decided yet and only seven had voted. Four of those for Fred. Don’t give up on Fred yet as he has a good chance here in Florida. Watch the debate Thursday and then see the surge again for Fred! I am not giving up! GO FRED!

If goes down to the wire and it's just him vs. Hillary, he's got my vote....but that's the ONLY way it can happen.

If it comes down to him and Hillary, I stay home. If it comes down to him and Obama, I'd probably even vote for Obama because at least he seems like an honest man - and worst case scenario is it sets the stage for a conservative renewal in four years time.

The one thing that is obvious is that we need to push to rearrange the beginning of the primary season so that Democrats and leftist Indies don't whittle away the only conservative candidates.

Firstly, McCain will not beat Hillary.

Secondly, the GOP establishment is offering and supporting these clowns, insulting us buy calling them Conservative.

By supporting these frauds, what kind of candidates can we expect from the establishment in the future?

Looks like 1976 to me. Ford gets beat by Carter, we suffer 4 miserable years, and then we get back to quality, Conservative candidates.

The world is too dangerous for Obama or Hillary to be president. I will vote for Fred if he is still around by the time Texas votes, but don’t think he will be. That leaves Romney for me. Will vote for the Republican candidate in the general election to keep Democrat abomination out of the White House.
