When you do the algebra, the answer to the equation is Romney. He is the most conservative ELECTABLE candidate in the race. He is the only one who can defeat Giuliani and McCain. No, he doesn't have a perfect conservative record, but you take what you can get and run with it. I hope that Free Republic can do some quick maturing and come to that realization too as time is VERY short and we ALL need to get behind Romney or we'll end up with either Giuliani or McCain and I don't think there's very many of us who can support either of them.

My considered conclusion too. I'll vote for McCain over any dem but it won't feel like I'm voting for a Rebublican/
Romney is NOT conservative.
Romney has no electability in a national election. He will be demagogued as a “big business” CEO (you know, the guys getting millions for sending jobs overseas), that has, shall we say, “out there” religious views (Jews living in the Americas 500 years BC) and whose actions has led to thousands of workers being laid off during his turnarounds.
Throw in some healthy skepticism from pro-life voters on his recent change of heart on that issue and he will go down to sound defeat. His only chance would be if Bloomberg got in and stole some dem votes.
