Fred Heads be strong!
Fox News ^ | January 19th, 2008 | Carl Cameron

With the results unclear as to whether he comes in 3rd or 4th in S.C. Senator Thompson, thanked South Carolina supporters and said very little about his future. In recent days he has said he would return to Tenn.visit with his Mom and make a decision about his future. Parts of his remarks tonights referred to his candidacy in the past tense, but he issued forward looking challenges to the GOP on leadership and direction. If Huckabee comes up short, it could cause southern conservatives to give Fred another look and thus give him more reasons to stay in beyond the upcoming debates and explosion of state contests on 2/5.

Exactly. The man has never shown the desire for the job. If he did he wouldn’t have waited until September to enter the race. Thompson is toast as a candidate. He’ll make a great Attorney General.

Wao!Great statement! FRED is FRED! Right? R.REAGAN is R.REAGAN!Right? But the point is that today Fred is probably the only one who tries to hold on the REAGAN’s legacy....Wrong?

Wrong. See my #80.

You just reminded me of something I heard last night:

A reporter travelling with John Edwards said he will stay in to collect delegates he can leverage at the convention.

What does he want?
ATTORNEY GENERAL!

Scared the hell out of me.

Not really. While Kerry doesn’t have many bills with his name on them, he has been very active arguing for an expanded role for government. I think that was the basic point being made.

If so, it wasn't made very well if at all.

Tip for future posts. 1. Start Brain, 2. type post, 2. Hit “Post”.

Sounds like a good plan for you pal, good luck with it.

I also believe that Fred can win the nomination if he stays in the race through Super Tuesday. McCain and Huckabee will fall out soon, along with Guiliani. I believe it will get down to Fred and Mitt in time. Now we all need to keep working for Fred in Florida by helping out any way we can. Make calls, talk to everyone you can, and donate to Fred’s red truck! Every little bit helps for the fight here in Florida. Be sure to tell everyone you know to watch the debate this coming Thursday from Palm Beach. Fred will shine through as the only real conservative once again! GO FRED, ALL THE WAY TO THE WHITE HOUSE!

CP,

As much as I and many others are Fred-Heads, I think the best that may happen it the following.

Fred gives a speech in prime time that finally clicks with all the Rino's and Huckster supporters.

This speech will rank right up their with "The Speech" that Reagan gave.

It will be then that the for-mentioned and the RNC will realize it is to late.

We will end up wilh a cross between Hillary and Carterm, "Hilarter" for 4 to 8 years.

At that point Fred may be to old to carry the mantel, the question then is who will emerge if we survive?

Which “closed primary” state is Fred leading in?

which polling accurately reflected the result?

.

I read something last night that struck me as the best explanation I’ve seen for the unsettled nature of this race.

Some blogger noticed that, in every state so far, there have been 2 GOP contenders far ahead of third place. The contenders are different, but the pattern has been the same. He concluded that late polling is driving uncommited voters to choose whoever the leaders are in that state...thus magnifying their leads.

One big reason for this is the compressed schedule. There simply isn’t time between primaries for candidates to get their messages out. I think he’s right that polls are driving voters’ decisions. Depressing, but it seems true.

I’m no fan of polls.
But I haven’t noticed Fred polling anywhere close to a win other than in some random online polls.
I wish it were not thus, but it’s reality.

That’s it. I knew he reminded me of someone. Winston Churchill!

I like Fred. I supported him.
But , it is time to give it up. If he couldn’t take S.C. ...the party is over.

He needs to endorse Mitt Romney.

Mitt/Fred ticket would be great!

I will keep fighting for Fred for now, because he is the only option to fight for.

Kieth Olbermann said it all last night when Fred gave his speech, and then a totally red-faced Kieth appeared on camera screaming "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT! We just got snookered", next to him Chrissy Matthews was sitting there literally slack-jawed. Both of them were just waiting for the goodbye so they could dance on the desks and celebrate the death of conservatism, and Fred played them like a finely tuned instrument.

If the press is going to get that pissed, and want Fred gone that bad, then there is a reason for it -- they are scared to death of him or anyone else with a Conservative message.

So, I will fight on for no other reason than to deny those scumbags any pleasure, and if Fred's 3rd or 4th or even 5th place finishes take any votes at all from Huckster and prevent him from the nomination, well that is an even more wonderful bonus.

Once, Fred drops out I will be done. Won't give a hoot who the nominee is, other than it not being Huckabee. Huckabee will be used by the press to completely destroy the Republican party for decades, and he will ignorantly hyuck hyuck hyuck along blissfully unaware of what a joke he is.

The other three stooges will get zero support from me in any way, but will probably get a vote in November for no other reason than to vote for the WOT, but even that is not set in stone if there is a good third party option.

I am beginning to think this country in general, and the idiots in this party in particular need another dose of complete Democrat rule to wake them up.

I don’t recall the MSM being on Reagan’s side when he was pursuing the nomination and he managed to do just fine. And the MSM is much less influential now than it was in Reagan’s time.

“his time is coming” is mentioned after every primary loss. As it was all year waiting for him to decide if/when to enter the Presidential race. We are all still waiting...

Sorry I misread, Obama and Osama are the same except for one letter.

Sp what McCain is still a pariah and his daughter made an idiotic comment given the circumstances.

Fred needs to fight on all the way to the convention. He can succeed at the GOP convention where Ronal Reagan failed in 1976. Fred's fight will be on the convention floor, for leadership and party unity. Fred has an important job to do still. He must keep the nomination far out of reach of Mike Huckabee. And he must bring the party together as the consensus conservative choice when no candidate comes up with enough delegates to win the nomination. Keep on fighting Fred!

Its not going to work that way. I gave Thompson until South Carolina (his own self-imposed deadline) to get over the hump. Staying in all the way to the convention just helps McCain win in states like South Carolina, a state where he has no business winning. The combined votes of Huck, Thompson and Romney gave him the win. He needs to get out now. Huckabees evangelical voters will be tapped out soon. Its over. Romney or McCain. I definately would rather have Romney now.

Exactly how I feel. Romney may get me in a voting booth, but that is about it, the rest other than Thompson have no interest to me. It will be the first time since 1980 that I will not have actively worked for or campaigned for the candidate.

The lessons of 1980 have gone totally forgotten, and with the economy being sound and things being good the rank and file have time to play games with their vote and focus on their pet issues.

It took Carter to bring us Reagan, perhaps we are back to that point. Perhaps we need a Huckabee or one of the other Democrats to get in, tax the hell out of us and tank the economy. Sad such lessons have to be harsh, but memories seem short, maybe we will do this dance over and over again. Lather, rinse repeat...

Of course this is all moot right now, Fred is still in and I have faith he will do the right thing. I know he has the support to keep going and we are still moving forward with things here.
