As a Conservative I am lost. I will not, under any circumstances vote for John Mclame. He has sold Conservatives out. Nor will I vote for Jesus' favorite candidate Schmuckabee. I believe the most Conservative candidate is Thompson and can't help but wonder who is voting in these things. If Mclame or Schmuckabee is the nominee I can't vote. It will pain me deeply to not vote, but either of those clowns are no different from the lefty. Me question to my FRiends is.. WHAT THE HELL DO WE DO??? The situation seems rather desperate.
BUMP!
If I'm not mistaken, you can opt out of the Mass health insurance by signing a bond 'waiver' proclaiming you have the assets to pay for any medical emergency, and won't simply sluff it off on taxpayers, like many do ... even well-to-do middle class people.
Here in Pennsyslvania, I can do the same thing with mandated auto insurance by signing a form proving I have enough assets to pay for an accident that is my fault.
And if I don't want to sign no dang GOVERNMENT form?
That is so not true, especially the claim of the same number of uninsured drivers on the road.
Here in Pennsylvania, mandated auto insurance was not popular when first introduced (I still hate it), but it made having an accident much less a gamble than before.
It took some time, but the state eventually got better at forcing people to buy auto insurance .... under threat of license or registration suspension or arrest.
As for the tripled premiums, I think the cost was up way before mandated insurance.
The GOP during Reagan's tenure, and the class of '94 did not succeed in winning elections because it pandered to the least-common-denominator and 'followed the votes'. It succeeded because it put forth leaders who made the case for conservatism with ironclad conviction.
Where the votes lie may be in the socialist brainwashed masses. Where the best interests of these people and the country lie is in conservative principles and action. It's our job to lead to the right, not to follow the left over the cliff.
When the Dems move to the left, only half the country moves left and there's still a chance it will come back to the right. When the GOP moves to the left, the whole country moves to the left, and it doesn't come back. It's more devastating than having Dems in office.
And we enforce mandated health health insurance the same way? Don't forget what I said before, I can decide not to drive and the auto insurance nazi style mandate does not apply. I suppose the STATE can always shoot me if I don't buy health insurance?
By the way, I agree with required auto insurance if you get on state maintained roads. Health insurance is way different. I have never paid a dime for health insurance, (no kids) Im 52 and I also have only paid minimum liability for my old trucks. I do not have a doctor and have never seen one except the emergency room for stitches or broke bones. Paid the bill. Also, local anesthesia for wisdom teeth removal. I will NOT pay mandated health insurance. Wonder how much money I have saved in 30 yrs?????

Still think socialism works?
Here's a good opinion piece from the former President of Geico as to how cumpolsory insurance raises both the individual and societal costs of auto accidents:

Thought I'd ping you to the post above. Take a look at the articles. Compulsory auto insurance raised both the societal and individual costs of auto accidents. I agree it's a responsible thing to do, and I have always had insurance. Making it compulsory however, was a bad idea. Did nothing but raise the rates for those responsible enough to carry it in the first place.
Yes, I did a quick look at the links you posted and at first glance, I do not believe them. (lies) However, I will read them more in depth and it may change my mind. Common sense tells me that if everyone has liability, you will at least get something from the A-hole that hits you, better than nothing. Also, at first glance, more payers should should not drive the cost higher unless the non-payers that are forced to pay are more accident prone and therefore cause the payout from insurance co. to go higher, that would drive up the cost for everyone. BUT, that does help the little guy that gets his/her old truck trashed.
You student council, boy scout, junior achievement types are all alike. Not real bright but proud as hell of it.
Several times over the past month or so I’ve made my preferences known in numerous posts on FR and nowhere within this thread have I advised anyone to vote for Romney. When I get the chance I’m voting for Thompson (assuming he is still on the ballot) and I’m beginning to see a chance for a brokered convention. Thompson should stay in the race for that reason alone.
Now the question is this: Why would you use a term like pimping and then address it to me when I’ve never supported Romney? Are you a Huckabee or McCain groupie? Have you confused me with someone else? What is your problem?
Ahhh........
Well, as I just recently posted to someone else, you can tell who’s the conservatives and who aren’t simply by watching the liberal media.
Given that the media hate Romney, I don’t know how much it would take, but I could hold my nose and pull the lever for him. I wouldn’t consider him a fantastic choice, but I would trust him clearly in the financial area. He knows the dollars. And I don’t consider it an accident that Tancredo endorsed Romney. That really, really got my attention. So financially, and on the borders, I think I can trust romney. I can’t trust McCain on anything.
No,no, no.... don't ya see, Your right on McCain, but Romney's pro immigrant and socialist health care stance is as bad as Obama and the Hill. Push Thompson if you can,,,or write in Thompson!
I am not a big advocate of mandated anything, whether auto insurance or health insurance.... so please don't misunderstand.
But when you look at the statistics of how much the state pays yearly in emergency Medicaid outlays, it is not hard to empathize with the motives behind the Massachusetts health plan.
The state, for instance, pays hundreds of millions directly to hospitals and doctors (thru emergency MediCaid) to cover the bills of average middle-income people who suffered a catastrophic illness or injury through no fault of their own.
Many middle class people, probably like yourself, said "hey, I don't need health insurance. I'm healthy. I will pay my own doctor bill."
But when the emergency occurs... and that person is rushed to the hospital, our compassionate society does not allow someone to die of cancer or be sick or maimed when there is advanced medical care that could cure them.
Hospitals and doctors do not force people to sell everything they own just to pay the bills.
Hospitals routinely apply to Medicaid to cover those large bills, which in essence means that the taxpayers, average schmo's like you and me, are already funding huge liabilities.
We are ALREADY paying the bills of low, middle, and upper class people -- many who are actually quite wealthy but they are able to put their money in someone else's name.
This mandatory health insurance is designed to stop or lower those "freebies" -- and put the responsibilities where they belong -- on each individual PRIVATE citizen.
No arguement, I want to let people that can't pay their FIRST hospital bill do without. Just let them die. What is the one thing this world does not have a shortage off???? PEOPLE ! When I get cancer, I'll just die. I'm not worried. I really have a clear conscience.
The above response is not cold, just realistic. There is no way to have the same health care for the rich as the poor. It can not work that way, its a fact of life just like men are stronger than women. Live with it.
Should we make them at the point of a gun? Should the local sheriff collect the health care payments at the point of a gun?
It also goes to the top of the rnc and to the president. We are being sold down the river with little chance to recover.
When they come for my payment, there will be a firefight, some of them will die and I will die. Is it worth the cost?
Some of the republican nominees will sell out the sovernty just as fast as the rat candidates will.I wont be a party to that.
