***Are you sure you’re not thinking of Brenda Vaccaro? She had a low voice, and they were an item for years.***

OMG you are right! I’m wrong!

Sad news. I really enjoyed her short-lived series “Nightengales”. Of course I was a teenager at the time, and the show was considered very controversial for the 80’s.

RIP.

No Suzanne never shacked up with Michael Douglas, thank God. That was Brenda Vaccaro. Suzanne was happily married for 30 year to an oilman named Tommy Gallagher.

What many don’t realize is that if she had anything controversial in her off screen past, she would have never worked for Disney. Probably not even got an audition. They were that way in those days.

I still marvel at how she was able to not only hold the same stage with Bob Newhart, but to become just as important to the show as him. I can think of few of her fellow actresses who could have held their own with that role and no current ones.

I was wowed by this from her bio at the IMDB;

“Was the producers’ original choice for the role on “Catwoman” on the “Batman” (1966) TV show. When negotiations broke down, the part went to Julie Newmar, who made it her own”.

I recall the actor who played the dentist (Peter Bonerez) also directed many of the episodes, too.

The actress (Marcia Wallace) who played the goofy receptionist does the voice of Bart's school teacher (Mrs. Crabapple) on the simpson's.

Newhart's first show was among the best ever and the last scene of his second show with SP is a classic TV moment.

RIP, Suzanne!

Suzanne was married to Tom Gallagher from 1968 to January 21, 2000 until his death from cancer. I couldn't find a larger photo.

This is terribly sad.

I think that she was a big part of the original Bob Newhart Show’s success, and I don’t ever remember seeing a tv show where a husband and wife were in bed talking to each other before that. It was completely natural and innocent. And it was still a completely family friendly show.

And speaking of being in bed together, in what has to be one of the best ever scenes in tv history is the last scene in the second Bob Newhart series, where Suszanne and he are in bed, and the entire second series was just a dream, ala Dallas! The live audience reaction was really something.

Mark

Peter Bonerz was the actor. He also had a fantastic role as a shrink in "Serial," the classic movie of the 1970s lifestyle.

As a youngster, I had the biggest crush on Suzanne Pleshette. Even her name . . . .

Rest in peace.

Her “beautiful husky voice” described by Fox News was due to a lifetime of heavy smoking. She died of lung cancer.

I remember that movie...Martin Mull, and they were all into EST and all that stuff & it changed every couple of weeks.

I guess that the lady has been ill for some time. She seemed to be graceful through her illness and through the illness of her late husband.

RIP

Rod Taylor.

Suzanne Pleshette was great in that film.
