It's clear who Huckabee camp is blaming for its squeaker of a loss in South Carolina: Fred Thompson.
After Huckabee's gracious concession speech -- in which he had nothing but kind words for John McCain who he said showed great "civility" -- former SC Gov. David Beasley, a Huckabee surrogate, railed against Thompson.
"Fred hurt us in South Carolina," Beasley began. "He had one goal and one goal only -- to distort Mike Huckabee's record so John McCain could pull it out. No ifs, ands or buts about it...
"Thompson came here and just went to the areas where he could gut Huckabee. I have no doubt in my mind, it was Washington politics at its worst.
"One thing about Fred; I love Fred, but Fred's not stupd...I don't think he had any intention in South Carolina but to hurt Mike Huckab... Had Fred Thompson not been in the race, this would have been an overwhelming, dynamic victory for Mike Huckabee."

Fred Camp: Blame Huck
So this is where all the nonsense about Fred being a stalking horse for McCain has come from!
Dirty politicking by the Huckster camp continues!
Congratulations, Fred!
*uckabee is scum.
AB* — Anyone but *uckabee.
Fred’s not like that. He is the ONLY stateman of the whole bunch!
Vote for FRED!
And, if the conservative media hadn’t singled out Huckabee fpr attack, the result would have been different and we wouldn’t be stuck with the two most unacceptable candidates imaginable — McCain and Willard.
I really wanted to see Fred pull off the impossible in SC.
So this is where all the nonsense about Fred being a stalking horse for McCain has come from!Yep.
Dirty politicking by the Huckster camp continues!
After Huckabee's gracious concession speech -- in which he had nothing but kind words for John McCain who he said showed great "civility" -- former SC Gov. David Beasley, a Huckabee surrogate, railed against Thompson.Rail away, Weasley. I'm still with Fred.
Clinton was absolutely wrong in his “Fairy Tale” comment. The REAL Fairy Tale is that Huck can actually win let alone be even competitive in a General Election. If he does win the nomination he will be the Republican equivalent of George McGovern. IMHO of course.
If this is what Fed did, then he did the nation a great service.
vaudine
Fred Thompson played a major role in passing McCain’s CFR, Fred was McCain’s campaign co-chair, when McC was running against Bush, before Fred entered the race in 2007 he was doing fundraising for McCain.

SEAN HANNITY:...
Joining us now is Fred Thompson’s campaign adviser, Mary Matalin. Mary, always good to see you.
MARY MATALIN, THOMPSON CAMPAIGN ADVISER: Hey Sean.
...
HANNITY:.....Why does he seem only willing to attack or go after or challenge Mike Huckabee but not Senator McCain? Senator McCain is leading there?
MATALIN: No, of course, he’s been challenging — I wouldn’t call it attacking. He’s been challenging each of these candidates on their issues. And specifically relative to McCain, he said he disagreed with his immigration issue. Let me say this, Fred Thompson would not have gotten in the race if John McCain was scratching the conservative itch. You listed all the things that John has not been conservative on. I would add to that, it was a tipping point for a lot of conservatives, he’s now jumped on the pseudo-religious global warming bandwagon. That’s just madness.
But they are friends, and if they thought John would have been able to carry the banner that could unite the party to beat the liberals in the fall, he wouldn’t have jumped in the first place. “
MATALIN:.... “We all love John McCain. We just don’t think he’s the kind of conservative that can unite the party. “

My congrats to fred as well. The dellusional Pastor Huckleberry team assumes that they would have actually picked up votes? LMAO

Hahahaahah! Sore loser.
