Here's what's been going on at FR for the past couple months: it's overwhelmingly for Fred, but in the grand scale of things the voting public is overwhelmingly for everybody else.
And folks don't see it yet. It's group-think on this board and it's not matching reality.
More than a few posters have said "South Carolina will be Fred's breakout state." Well, he broke to third place.
Instead of the constant drum-beat of Fred, Fred, Fred on FR, it should have been the feet hitting the pavement in the real world. For gosh sake, it's 60-some percent saturation here on FR. You've won. You should have moved to the areas where it's 15% for Fred - which at this point appears to be a lot of places.

That much has been clear for a long time. If FR was the real world, we'd be talking about President Keyes right now.
Let's face it, FR gets no respect at election time because we generally DON'T get involved in our local political process. We just sit around here p!ssing and moaning about everything.
Personally, the political aspect of FR interests me a lot less than the religion board and the archaeology, science, and cryptozoology threads. That's why I keep coming back.
Politics is so pathetically ephemeral, after all.

Right there you lost me.
The last thing you could possible say about FreeRepublic is that we practice group-think.
We are the most well-informed, well-principled group of people on the web.
You might want to re-think your position.
You are well wide of the mark!

Wow Bosco, for someone who has been on this "board" for almost as long as I, you don't seem to "get it".
Of course it is "group think". And the group on this "board" from the beginning are here as it is a place where like minded "conservatives" (dwindling group it seems) can gather and make their voices "heard" (seen).
It has never been, and based upon the latest posts by the owner, never will be a "Party" "board".
Fred Dalton Thompson, other than Duncan Hunter, is the only real Constitutional Conservative in the race for the Republican nomination.
Why wouldn't a "group" of conservatives engage in "group think" with him being the only alternative to more Republican gobbely goop?
