I hope the GOP and NRC people are happy about splitting the party into so many fragments.

All the president had to do was have Cheney retire and name a new VP after 2004. Then we would have had a candidate to rally around. Instead, we get this mess.

I know it's trite, but in this case, it's accurate--Bush's fault!

That would have been horrid.

How would you like to have to support a VP candidate saddled with Bush's low poll numbers, having to support the president's amnesty bill, etc etc. It would be a disaster. And you wouldn't be supporting that veep, you'd be supporting someone else. But the veep would have enough establishment support to win the nom and then loose the general.

A Republican can win, but there is no way Bush would get 'third term.'
