Tribute video for Congressman Duncan Hunter, who ended his candidacy for president today.
Thanks Aunt B! This is yet one battle in a lingering war.
FORGE AHEAD!
Thanks, Jan. Excellent scripture reference. It was an honor to support such a great man for the presidency.
I picked my poison. I don’t really have a dog in this hunt any more. Like what happened in Kahleeforneeya, the conservative lost but a flashy republican won. How’s that turning out? Were you aware that this is not a GOP website? This is a conservative website.
From the front page of Free Republic:
Statement by the founder of Free Republic
As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. .... We are not connected to or funded by any political party, news agency, or any other entity. .... We aggressively defend our God-given and first amendment guaranteed rights to free speech, free press, free religion, and freedom of association, as well as our constitutional right to control the use and content of our own personal private property. Despite the wailing of the liberal trolls and other doom & gloom naysayers, we feel no compelling need to allow them a platform to promote their repugnant and obnoxious propaganda from our forum. Free Republic is not a liberal debating society. We are conservative activists dedicated to defending our rights, defending our constitution, defending our republic and defending our traditional American way of life.
I really hope Fred pulls it out of the hat.
Thanks for the pings and hard work you put in for the best candidate!
I am truly saddened by this news. Perhaps in 4-8 years, America will be ready for him.
I believe the man simply had too much integrity.
To me, he embodied the best of old school values.
Our primary is on Super Tuesday. I will check his box anyway, or write him in.
In November, I may just have to vote for Ron Paul. It won’t be the first “protest” vote I’ve cast out of total disgust.
I’m not surprised to hear that he didn’t throw his support behind anybody else. He probably knows how fraudulent they are more than any of us.
I will continue to pray for our country every day.
Without Hunter at the top, this is critical to our nation’s survival.
Best wishes to all of the “Hunteristas”!
Our family is going to write a letter to him, thanking him for his effort, for being one of the last true Americans, and promising support for any future endeavors.
I would love to see him in Skeletor’s place or as Governor of California.
Death to the MSM format we know and despise can’t come soon enough. What a sham it’s all been.
I agree.
As the years roll by you'll always remember this election. Conservative Hunter was the best but he was tossed aside for rinos. Also remember, you supported him and there's much honor in that.
Thanks for the great idea, Califreak...I will do the same!
I agree, Obama is weak and flawed candidate for the Dems. They are in very much the same shape as the Republicans. It is hard to believe out of 300 million citizens, that this slate of candidates is the cream of the crop. My hope with Obama is that he takes out the Clinton machine. I am tired of those evil Bs monopolizing the political scene. Time for them to go.
Against the weak GOP candidates, Obama actually could win, but so could Hillary. I would rather turn Obama into a one term Carter than have the Clintons entrenched further into all phases of government.
I don’t make an issue of my profession. And I also don’t buy into the tin-foil-hat conspiracies. Making up excuses for people we want to win a candidacy is the rhetoric of a liberal. It’s not in keeping with a constituency who takes ownership of their own selves.
I am still trying to digest the candidates we have. LOL
Why would a true conservative endorse someone like McCain?
I hope Hunter stays in politics. We desperately need more like him.
I apologize for my remark regarding your profession.
I agree that making up excuses is rhetoric of a liberal; but many have done it be they liberal or not.
I just didn’t like being kicked to the curb everytime I said something about the candidate I support.
LOL! I did and now I have indigestion. :(
“And let us not lose heart in doing good,
for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary.
Galatians 5:9”
I love that. Let’s keep moving forward to fight for pro-God conservatism values.
And we can support Duncan Hunter’s Marine son, as he is running for his dad’s seat.
I don’t have my heart/soul behind any of the candidates. I really an not highly enamored with any of them. It’s been a long time since there was a GOP candidate that I REALLY wanted to see win.
Hopefully, he has not given up on POTUS for good, but will gain some experience and exposure, perhaps as a Senator or Governor.
America needs men of his caliber
In case he is reading this thread, thank you Representative Hunter, for being the standard bearer of conservatism in this campaign.
It is a disappointing time for us, but Duncan Hunter is still taking care of as, as demonstrated in his e-mail:
“It’s time for me to gear up for 2008’s defense bill that will be put together over
the coming weeks. There is work to be done in the areas of troop protection and new
capabilities to be deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. And over the horizon, the
emergence of Communist China as a military super power will require a new emphasis
on U.S. capabilities in undersea warfare, space, and long range air-power.
The best way to maintain a new era of peace is for the U.S. to remain strong. Over
the coming year I will endeavor to help craft a defense bill that meets the new
security challenges.
Since our campaign began over 200,000 additional manufacturing jobs have been lost.
1.8 million jobs have left the U.S. for China. This fracturing of the U.S.
industrial base is a long term threat to America. I hope that the remaining
candidates will recognize it and address it. As the senior Republican on the House
Armed Services Committee, I will seek to address it.
Only hours ago a border patrolman was killed in the California Desert. This tragedy
emphasizes more than ever the compelling case for the completion of the border
fence. Since I wrote the bill that mandates 854 miles of double border fence only
a few miles have been constructed. Over the next year in Congress I will do
everything in my power to get that fence built.”
We have not heard the last of him.
And thanks for your passion, Califreak.
