Watch as the goalposts move before your very eyes, with less contested southern states like Georgia and Tennessee now the benchmark for voter enthusiasm.
Third in SC is very much a possibility, of course but early indications from Carl Cameron are not good.
Politico says he sounds wistful on the trail today while the NYT seizes one last opportunity to snark. Amen! Tell the truth, Fred! Amen!
Update: Victory in defeat:
Over the past month, Huckabee first surged in polls of South Carolina Republicans, from fifth place to, for a time, a solid first place. Over the past two weeks, however, he has fallen behind McCain, largely for two reasons: McCain got a major boost from his January 8 New Hampshire win, and the struggling campaign of Fred Thompson made a last ditch effort to get on track here. While well behind and tied for third place with Romney, Thompson did make gains, and the data suggest that virtually every point Thompson picked up came out of Huckabees hide.
Oops.
Oops.
Are you kidding me? A hunter supporter jumping to Mccain? You are the one defending his position on the SC flag, not me.
Casper, don’t worry about all the digs. It isn’t as if this site is the only source of information for South Carolina voters. Thanks for the post, interesting info.
“Take away all of the females and homosexuals who are in love with WILARDS hair and Thompson is 3rd easy.”
Right, and if you take away everybody that voted for McCain & Huckabee, well then Fred is in 1st easy. LOL
Up yours, dip. :)
The point is the people were voting for him because they believed that he could and would do something.
Try to conceptualize the issue, would you?
Why are they showing exit polls before the polls close?
That influences voters.
Everyone who has said McCain./Huck would be the death of the Republican party... is right. And I think the MSM wants that desperately.
Graybeard58 wrote: “If both Hunter and Thompson drop out before the Illinois primary, I probably wont even bother to vote. It makes no difference at all to me which rino is the nominee.”
If this turns out to be the case, then go to the polls and write in either Thompson or Hunter. If it happens, I’ll write in Fred for president and Hunter for veep just to give the GOP the shaft. After all, that’s what the GOP has been giving conservatives ever since Ronald Regan packed up and left the White House for his ranch.
Well, voting is not a waste of time. It's a duty and bully for you for participating. But there's an awful lot of energy, time, and money being wasted on a dog who won't hunt--Fred Thompson. I'm hoping his loss tonite is devestating enough to put him out of our misery. It's a waste of time. He's got no chance. If people lower the bar for Fred any lower, he's gonna fall through the earth's core and wake up in China.
Can I assume by your screen name you're supporting the Hillbilly From Hope"?
No. I had my name before I ever heard of Huckabee. You see there's this book by a feller named Twain? And it's named after a character I really admire, a troubled kid who takes a ride on a raft? Ring any bells?
If Romney is the nominee, imagine the debate with Hillary. On abortion.
Hillary: I am pro-choice and in fact my opponent was also at one time.
On taxes.
Hillary: I opposed the Bush tax cuts for the rich, and in fact my opponent was also against them at one time.
On healthcare for all.
Hillary: I support and will fight for healthcare for all, just like my opponent did in Massachusetts. In fact he said the biggest difference between his plan and mine is that his became law! I welcome his support for my plan.
On gays serving openly in the military.
Hillary: It is time to end dont ask, dont tell. In fact you Mr. Romney were all for ending that plan even before me and my husband. You were ahead of the curve and supported gays being allowed to serve openly way back in 1994.
On a huge stimulus package.
Hillary: I want to spend 100 billion in an effort to bring the economy back from this recession! My opponent wants to spend 100 billion over 5 years just on the automobile industry, so my plan is in fact a lot more fiscally responsible than his!
What the heck are you babbling about?
I’m talking about you saying FRed stepped on it for not giving voice to their flag concerns.
I said nothing about McCain, and I wouldn’t say anything (good) about that traitor.
“Romney, McCain, and Huckabee.”
McCain and Huckabee don’t have a chance even if they get the nomination. The Dhim media is chomping at the bit to run negatives on them. And they probably wouldn’t have to make stuff up.
I’ll skip the Presidential section of the ballot if McCain’s name is there and maybe ditto for the Huckster.
No, they were voting for him cuz he said he’d wouldn’t butt in. A promise he could easily keep. Observe the obvious.
Exactly! This is a sad election year.
Nope, what will really happen is non conservatives, such as you, will manage to get a Rino liberal, such as Huck or Romney or, even worse, McCain, nominated and the real conservatives will either not vote or vote 3rd party thereby throwing the election to the Dems. Time to take our party back and if it means 4 years of Fat Butt Hillery, then so be it. I refuse to vote for a Rino, no more: I am drawing the line and refusing to go any further.
Bye bye Fred and to all the FredHeads that will leave or be purged from FR like all those Rudy supporters in April 2007....
As Rush said, it took a Carter to get us a Reagan.
Are you really that much of an imbecile or do you just play one on FR?
You’re overestimating the intelligence of other people. Now do you understand?
The Rudy supporters "purged" themselves.
